“Excellent Hotel good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Had very nice superior double bed room with desk, table two arm chairs and comfortable double bed. It was very clean and the furniture was to a high standard. The Internet connection was good. The breakfast buffet had a vast collection and there was a nice atmosphere with a good view in the breakfast room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all can only recommend.

The check in/out lady was not helpful. Did not allow for late checkout even though there were rooms available. Created inconvenience for us.

Dear Guest,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review about your most recent stay at our hotel. As per my inspection regarding your late check out case, I was informed that the room had been allocated for another guest who was arriving in the afternoon. For that reason, we were unable to offer you a late check out for more than 1 hour.
Alternatively, you had been offered to extend your stay for a half day in another room at an additional cost as a late check out, but you had not accepted to pay an extra fee for a half day extension of your stay either.
So, it was not the reception clerk's attitude but the late check out policy which caused you feel this way. We would love to see you in our hotel on your future visit/s to our amazing city.
Kindest Regards,

“Average hotel, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I booked this hotel for romantic getaway because of many great reviews and OK price. Unfortunately we were disappointed - our double room was tiny and maybe because of darkness with worn-out impression, look through window was awful - unkempt backyard full with garbage.

Good things - staff was helpful, breakfast was decent, very good view from breakfast room/terrace, very convenient to get to Haga Sophia and Blue Mosque.

So overall this hotel might be good as base for exploring Sultanhamet, but not for romance and I strongly recommend to be critical with very exited reviewers, whose only review is just about this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are with better view.

“A wonderful Hotel… Highly recommended!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

A wonderful hotel located in the heart of the Sultanahment. Just three minutes walk from Blue Mosque and Agia Sofia. Galata Bridge, Capali Market, and all of the major tourist sites are within easy walking distance.

Many good restaurants and cafes are also located nearby.

The Room (we stayed in a triple deluxe) was spacious, very clean with a sea view. Breakfast is rich and is served in a nice room with a fantastic view of the Marmara sea (A perfect way to start your day in Istanbul!!).

Staff was really great, very kind and always available to help you.

It was my third time in Istanbul but the first time I had such a great accommodation.
I’ll definitely stay again at Sumengen Hotel!
