“Mixed feelings”

We had a confirmed reservation with an airport pickup. I had informed them that I would take some time to get a visa so the driver will need to factor that in. Inspite of that, the driver left without me. I waited at the airport with my wife and 5 year old child trying to call these people. Ofcourse, making a phone call from Istanbul is like pulling teeth - you cant use coins - you have to buy a stupid calling card from the post office at the other end of the airport. When the driver showed up after an hour, he was incredibly rude. This person was not an employee of the hotel but that does not help me.
Breakfast at the hotel was very good. Plumbing is messed up - when you are showering, the water varies between cold and hot. Rooms are tiny. Not the best when you are with a child.

“Convenient, with value pricing”

I showed up in Istanbul without a reservation. After looking at rooms at two other places, I settled on Hanedan. The employees provided exceptional service, helped call for evening show reservations, lent me a laptop to check email on, and provided a good breakfast buffet.

The location is convenient to tourist restaurants and several main tourist sites, such as Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, Blue Mosque, and the Cisterns. To get to less touristy restaurants requires a bit of a walk or tram ride.

Like most hotels in the area, Hanedan is close to a mosque, so there are early morning wake-up calls to prayer!

I would have stayed at Hanedan on my return trip through Istanbul, but I arrived early, before the front door was unlocked.

“Best Service and good value”

I would strongly recommend this hotel for a long weekend stay and to someone who is planning a dynamic holiday. Modest and clean and with remarkable service (Marash, Aeron thank you!)
and beautiful sea view from the breakfast roof terrace. There you will enjoy home made cakes and cheese cookies. Quiet located in the heart of the historic area next to all museums.

“Good basic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Arrived at the Hannedan and shown to top floor room with a view of the sea! Up two flights of stairs - no lift and true enough room did have a sea view! room was small but perfectly adequate - warm - it was a cold week in November! Very clean. Small TV. Bathroom clean and tidy and apart from the odd jet of cold water as you switched shower on water was hot. Breakfast on the roof top room - great views of the Bosphorous, Topkapi Palace, Ayia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, all were only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Plenty of food, typically turkish with tea and coffee. Wi fi available but sometimes struggled to pick it up. Reception helpful when we asked for directions. Overall a very good small basic 2 start hotel.

Ideally located in Sultanhamet, nice area but the restaurants were pretty desperate for business now the tourists had gone. Plenty of choice close by to eat out and get a beer. Restaurant next door to the hotel was very convenient and good value. Prices tended to be higher in the old Sultanahmet area near the hotel but not excessively so. A short stroll (10mins max) and you had a fantastic choice of places to eat. For lunch we spent no more than £5 for two - usually a donner or fish sandwich plus a drink - very tasty! Evenings probably cost bewteen £15 - £20 for two....pushed the boat out one night and paid £25.

Overall Istanbul is a great city, cheap to eat out, bazaar's are great and in a chilly November no hordes of tourists. We used the tram a few times...2TL (Less than £1) each per journey...as far as you wanted and we also walked a lot. Explored all the back streets - fascinatiing and as the days went on the place grows on you. If it has a downside the transfer from Sabiha Gocken airport takes at least 1hr 20mins and can be longer, but we just sat back and took in the sights....traffic is horrendous. Istanbul attaturk airport is much closer. So you need to leave plenty of time to transfer back to the Sabiha Gocken airport for flight home.

The Hannedan is a good little hotel which is justifiably well rated by many tripadvisors.

Room Tip: Top floor had a sea view....rooms tend to be small but perfectly adequate.

“Great and warm stay @ Hanedan :)”

My wife and I had a really memorable stay at Hanedan Hotel, where we also shuffled back and forth with their sister hotel, the Peninsula due to the length of our stay (3 weeks thereabouts). The breakfast was fantastic at both places, with a great view of the Marmara Sea on the terrace during the mornings.

Kudos to the team of Abdullah, Bahatin, Ziki, and the rest for being so accommodating and sharing their knowledge of where to get the best lokum :) as well as pointers for a reliable travel agency (say Hi to Janel for us!), in addition to any other questions that we had concerning the great, historical city of Istanbul.

We do hope to return to Turkey sometime in the future for another dream trip...God bless you all!
