“Highly recomended”

Central Palace was a great experince. We stayed in a Standart Room but it was just a first class suite with a great balcony. Furniture, sheets, bathroom, breakfast was amazing. For the first time after choosing a hotel from internet, I found the room much better than it was shown in the pics! Location is great so so close to all the attractions of Taksim. Highly recomended.

“Excellent choice!”

We visited Istanbul for the first time and booked the hotel through booking.com for a 3 nights stay.
We arrived very early in the morning and as the room was not yet available the front desk offerd us complimentary breakfast.
Breakfast has got a large variety of both european and local dishes to please everyone. The dining area is spacious, and there is always someone there to help you.
Rooms are big with a small lining room. King size beds are 2 singles put together, but that has not been a problem to us, as they are very comfortable with goose feather pillows. Bathroom had a jacuzzi and hot water at all times. The cleaniness of the hotel is of very high standard. Spottlesly clean both rooms and all common areas.
Staff very helpful and english speaking, witch we found very rare fot Turkey!
Wi-fi is available everywhere in the hotel with a password given from reception at the check in, free of charge.
All in all we had a perfect stay, and we will be certainly staying there again the next time we will visit Istanbul.

“Great location and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

My wife and I stayed at the Central Palace for 4 nights in late December 2010.

The hotel is located on a pedestrian street off Taksim Square. Our room (901) was comfortable and clean, with a spacious bathroom and an equally spacious balcony overlooking the neighborhood. The weather in Istanbul during our stay was pleasantly warm (for December), and we slept with the balcony door open. We had no issues with street or other noise.

The self-serve breakfast buffet offered a generous variety of typical western-type dishes as well as local items. There was something for everyone. The

WiFi is available throughout the hotel; customers need to obtain an access password -- no charge -- from the front desk first. The hotel also offers free parking.

Location wide, the hotel is situated 0.2 miles from Taksim Square and 0.25 miles from the top of the tony Istiklal Street. From the square visitors can take the new furnicular down to Cabatas and fro there the T1 line of the tram to the most popular destinations in the city.

A convenience store is located immediately across the hotel's entrance. On the pedestrian street from the hotel to the square you can find also a currency exchange (one of the most fair priced ones we saw and used), a meticulous shoe polisher, and a cozy wine bar.

All in all the Central Palace Hotel offered us with a clean, comfortable, and pleasant base from which we explored the imperial city. We will not hesitate to return to this hotel for our future trips to Istanbul.

“Poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in September 2010 during a business trip.

The rooms were really clean and the furnishings were fine, although to room was not too spacious. The hotel is situated in a traffic free street and seems quite quiet at first sight. Breakfast was quite generous.

When we arrived, we were immediately asked to pay for the whole stay, which didn't please me at all. The receptionist's English was horrible and communication was not easy at all. However he managed to bill the money. Visa card didn't work.

The concierge who brought the luggage to our rooms, didn't really want to leave the room and tried to demonstrate the most basic functionalities of the room (A/C, tap...) until I gave him a tip.

The rooms were very noisy. I couldn't get any sleep as my room (on the back side of the hotel) was located on a floor where a family was making noise all night. Please note the acoustic insulation towards the corridor was really poor. Changing the room proved to be very very difficult. Only after repeated complaints, they changed my room.

My colleague's room was located on the front side of the hotel, where live music from a bar next to the hotel made it impossible to get some sleep until nearly 2.30

Even if the situation improved after changing the rooms, we still endured some discomfort as the build-on building is under construction (as well as another construction site over the way). Please note that in Turkey works start early in the morning and usually continue untill after midnight. Nobody draw our attention to that fact when we booked the hotel.

Finally, I would not recommend staying at this hotel, as there are probably much better hotels in the area, with much better service.
