“A real find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2011

For the cost you pay, you really get a good deal. The rooms are very clean, the service is 24 hours and it is better than best. You truly get the quality of a better Holiday Inn at a great price. The breakfast could have more variety, but it's continental - not much you can expect. Lots of restaurants around, all the monuments are a walking distance. If you don't want to walk, the tram is around the corner, and the taxi stand is around the other corner. Convenient location and comfortable stay.

“Average accomodation in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

We're told that for five euros a night more we could have stayed in a much nicer hotel, however The Metropol was in an excellent location for exploring the old part of Istanbul. The Topoka Palace and Museum, Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia are an easy ten to fifteen minute walk away. The staff spoke english and were very friendly.

At times we found the five or so street dining restaurants outside a little overwhelming at first, and the lack of safe drinking water was a bit of a downer, but we'd stay there again.

“Typical 2 star hotel; leaky showers, noisy tunnel construction nearby & poor staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

Staff were lazy and lied to a fellow traveller about her booking; that they found under a mis-spelt name. The tunnel construction and loading of dump trucks on the opposite corner went till very late in the night. Breakfast was ordinary; but like most Turkish hotels.

“Average Hotel but very good location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

We have stayed at Hotel Metropol in Istanbul in May - 2010. The Hotel is not very good. Its an average Hotel. The staff is not so friendly. Not good option in Breakfast.

The one and only good thing about the hotel is its location. Its very near to almost all the major tourist attractions in Istanbul.

“Great location, clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

After 9 days travelling through Turkey, we came back to Istanbul and the Hotel Metropol.
When we first visited Istanbul we stayed at the Erbil Hotel next door to the Metropol and were rather disappointed with that choice, so we were a bit wary of what the Metropol would provide on our return to the city. I can say though that we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were pleasant, the nights were quiet (even with the local nightlife... we had a street-facing room and it was fine), the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the pillows were of decent quality.

The only thing to worry about is the disturbing colour of pink that the rooms are decorated in... but that can be easily overlooked given the other virtues of the hotel.

Perfect choice for visiting Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, taking a boat trip on the Bosphorus... all are in walking distance.
