“Close to sights in quiet neighbourhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This was booked as part of a packaged trip with rejsefeber.dk.
Small, cozy place, a hop and a skip from Topkapi, Sultanahmet and Aya Sofia.
Yet in a quiet neighbourhood, which is partly residential, partly hotels.
Room was small, but clean and adequate.
Very nice view of Bosporus from the breakfast room, where afternoon tea, coffee and cookies are also offered.
Istanbul was extremely cold at this time. For various reasons we spent about half the day in our room, which was easily and sufficiently heated.
Superfriendly staff.

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 4 and 7 seem to be larger and brighter. 7 will likely have a view of the Bosporus. But all...

“THE place to stay in Istanbul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This little gem is right in the middle of old Istanbul and within a short walk from Sultan Ahmet square and all the major attractions of this very beautiful city - the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofia, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi palace.
The staff are friendly and very helpful; the breakfast, although unusual to us, was tasty and filling. The dining room looks out over the sea of Marmara and is bright and sunny.
Rooms are small but comfortable and in Istanbul you're not going to spend much time in your room anyway.
If you've ever been able to find accommodation in Europe where you don't have to climb stairs you've been very lucky, and the Naz Wooden House is no exception. You do have to climb the stairs. But don't let this put you off, because an elevator would only spoil the ambiance of this wonderful little Wooden House from the Ottoman era.
We will not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: We got to stay in the largest and the smallest rooms in the house. In this case size doesn't mat...

“Excellent Service, Great Rooms, Welcoming Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We had stayed here as a couple in 2004 when we had a fantastic time. We decided to stay again with our two young children. Our son stayed for free in the third bed in the room and they put a camp bed in for our daughter for a very low extra charge. The ground floor room was well appointed and we had plenty of room. Some of the other rooms are rather more bijoux (we stayed in a 2 bed as a couple and it was cozy) but then, unless you are on a business trip you come to Istanbul to see the city not to stay in the hotel. If you are travelling with children, even a baby in a portacrib you should consider booking a 3 bed room.

We are heavy sleepers but the children are quite light and none of us were disturbed by the train track, the noise is slight and transient. The track is electric and suburban so it is not as though an intercity diesel is clattering by the windows. The beds are comfortable, firm enough for a good sleep without being ridiculously hard.

I did have to check in for work while I was there and the free wifi in the lobby extended to our room, had we been in one of the other rooms I would have had to work in the lobby and extending the wifi could be a point of improvement by management.

The rooms were very clean and attended to daily. Breakfast was well provisioned and very generous, the range has improved since 2004. It is served on the top floor with wonderful views over the Sea of Marmara. Our previous stay was in the Summer and we had been able to eat on the terrace which has divine views.

Complimentary coffee and cake is served on the top floor until midnight every evening and is a welcome extra. Laundry (we had been holidaying for 10 days by the time we arrived) is cheap and efficient.

Staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our flight was delayed but there were no problems with our pick up - I just called the hotel to let them know. If travelling as a couple the airport pick up is expensive as the tram is a simple, quick and easy alternative. If you are travelling with young children or many bags the pick up is worthwhile.

We would return to the hotel on any future trip to Istanbul.

Room Tip: If you are very sensitive to noise avoid the larger rooms at the back of the hotel. If you want mor...

“Loved it.”

I just got back last night and i felt compelled to write a good review. I highly recommend this hotel.

I actually WASN'T supposed to stay here. I actually booked their sister hotel, Deniz houses, but was moved here because they were overbooked. Obviously when i heard this upon my arrival i was annoyed and exhausted from traveling. But the Naz is just down the street and it was amazing anyway.

The lobby is small, but cozy. Authentically turkish with traditional rugs and furniture as decor. It was really welcoming and warm. The staff is warm, helpful and EXTREMELY friendly.

The rooms are small, but it's not like you're going to be living there. Small, but well furnished and like i said before, warm. I felt really comfortable and at home in this room. The roof provides a good view and the breakfast is basic, but nice.

If you're into really touristy stuff then the location is great, perfect even! because its a 5-10 minute walk away from the blue mosque and a 20-25 minute walk from the grand bazaar, BUT i had turkish friends who i met up with in Taksim nearly every night of my stay. Where ACTUAL turkish people hang out in nice bars, restaurants, clubs, shops, etc. It's about a 30 minute cab ride away, so even though i loved the Naz, i would book a hotel in Taksim if i ever go back to istanbul because its essentially where i spent all my time.

Its a REALLY good bang for your buck because i paid 165 euros for the WEEK and most places you would pay that for a semi decent place for the NIGHT. incredible value. I live in Paris so a place THIS good for THAT much was unreal.

i would HIGHLY suggest you stay here. Its a really great hotel. Unique, nice, great location, friendly people, overlooks the sea, and great price!

you really couldn't ask for better :)

“Naz Wooden Houses Inn, Istanbul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Visited for three nights in late Nov/early Dec 2011. Arrived on overnight flight at 05:30 but no problem checking in which was great. Stayed in room number 1, which though I was travelling alone was spacious enough for 2. It was right beside a mosque so no need for an alarm clock but that was part of the charm. The train line outside is noisy but the trains are few and far between so was not an issue for me and slept well. Breakfast on the top floor was nice but the best part of Naz (apart from the friendly service at reception) is the location - a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya and about 100 yards from a nightly Whirling Dervishes show. Istanbul is a magnificent city, safe, friendly, great for walking or jumping on the tram or boats on the Bospherous. Naz Wooden Houses is an excellent place to stay to access all Istanbul has to see and do.
