“Can't recommend this Hotel. There must be better around.”

Stayed here with a group of friends for 3 nights- we had 5 rooms in total. Only one of our party was semi-satisfied with his room, the rest of us weren't. The hotel is very loud- street noise, air-conditioner noise and especially the bar on the roof which was open till at least 3am!
There were many other problems besides the noise- hot water not working, heating not working, towels not replenished, poor cleaning etc.
The staff were nice enough and did tend to the problems after we alerted them, but it seemed to be an endless list of things needing doing.
The breakfast was ok (although the coffee and juice were awful) with stunning views over the Bosporus- nice selection of cheese, olives, bread, yoghurt with honey etc. Although we would have liked some fruit.
As others have said, the location is very good- there is also a nice cafe next door and bars, clubs and shopping nearby. It's also only a short walk to the various tram lines when you get bored of the constant strain of dealing with Istanbul taxi drivers and their money-making ruses.

Room Tip: Surprisingly the lower rooms are better as they are further from the music which goes on in the Hote...

“Good Hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I just came from one week stay there with my wife, my brother and sister.
Me and my wife stayed in a room with a double bed , the room was clean and well decorated but the bed it self is very small it’s about 140 cm & the room it self was small for one week stay, the other room was twin bed so it was ok and it was a little bit bigger.
My first contact to the hotel stuff in the reception desk that they don’t understand the reservation came from agooda, they thought the reservation was for two single rooms although it was very clear that the reservation was for two double rooms, we hade long discussion about this and we got it solved at the end but it made a bad background to have your first impression like this.
The breakfast was very poor, and never changed in all the 7 nights I stayed there, no varieties, but the view from the restaurant there was amazing looking over the Bosporus.
The room service was not good, you must have something missing in the room, one day no towels the other day no soap, I hade one lamp in the room which I cannot switch off, and I cannot sleep from its light, I call the reception on the daily basis to send my some on to fix it, some times they send some one and fails to fix it and others they ignore, in the last days when I go to sleep I have to remove the Room Card to have all the lights off and I cannot charge my camera or my mobile because of this lamp.
The bathroom was very clean and the shower has a nice Jacuzzi.
The location of the hotel was nice and near to Taxim square, althouth it is near to taxim but the way from the hotel to taxim is on a ramp so if you have a bag or something it will be a little hard for you.

Overall, the hotel is ok, rooms were nice but the breakfast and the room service was not that good.

“Good location but nothing more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

I have stayed at Villa Zurich several times but I must admit that I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It's great in terms of location, just off the touristy Taxim square, but other than that nothing special. It used to be a great choice in the past years--good location and great value--but not anymore. You can find other hotels at this price with much better service. I could even say that it is a bit expensive for what it offers.

The first time I stayed there I was offered a room on the second floor, which was really bad. It was very small and noisy. Next day, I complained and they did some sort of upgrade. I was moved to a room on the fourth floor overlooking the street. This room was spacious but very noisy. I complained again and then I was moved to a room on the fifth floor, which was even more spacious but the noise persisted. In fact it was worse due to the restaurant they have on the sixth floor (Doga Balik,) which by the way it's really good.

One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is the terrace they serve breakfast--a lovely terrace overlooking the Golden Horn and Saray Burnu. Cihangir is indeed a very nice neighborhood, close to all main attractions, and it has some lovely restaurants and cafes. It's really enjoyable all year round, but especially in the summer. However, Villa Zurich needs some renovation.

It can be a good choice if you travel off tourist season, but if over the summer I would suggest you to avoid this place, or make sure you get at their standard rate a room on the fourth floor!

“This hotel is very good for a trip to Istanbul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2011

The rooms were clean and did not smell at all. We had a corner, front room with a very nice view of the street, of cafes and of the water. The cab ride was 15 minutes to the historical sites. The cost was about 20 Turkish lira to travel to the sites. The patrons at cafes were in their 30's usually which provided some energy and excitement to the area. Room includes breakfast on the top floor which has a gorgeous view. Good hotel and good price. Passable English speaking.

“not recommendable despite of its location”

I do not recommend this hotel especially for people with sensitive nose. There was a bad smell in the room and it was very noisy because of the old ventilation system. The room was so small and didn't even have a window.
When I went to complain in the morning, another woman was trying desperatly to change her room for the same reasons.
