“Filthy, nasty, hot and dated with staff that could care less”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

The small group tour represented that we would stay in four star hotels. We arrived to the Adela To meet our group. We found there was garbage in the hallway with roaches running around it.. The room was hot, the carpet was old and dirty, the TV was a 15 inch TV that looked to be about 15 years old, not a nice flat screen. The decor was dated, the sheets were dirty or stained. There was NO mattress pad on the beds which is just plain disgusting. There was something black growing between the sink faucet and the mirror and black mold was all over the corners of the shower. The AC never cooled the room and I slept with a wet towel on my body on top of the dirty sheets. Staff turned Ac off in Lobby at 9 PM. We paid extra to stay at a different hotel away from the group. It would have been free at the Adela, but not worth it!

“Do not stay at this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

An organization introducing me and other Americans to Turkey booked us in at the Adela hotel near the airport. It should not be called a "hotel." While there's a lot of marble on the floors and countertops, that's about the only nice thing in the place. The rooms are small. The air conditioning did not work when it was 90 degrees outside. The noise from a busy highway was unbelievable. The wallpaper was peeling from the wall. The toilet didn't work. The promised wireless Internet connection was spotty at best. In other words, this is a crappy hotel and you don't want to stay here. I got so irritated at this hotel that I left the tour early and booked at a nearby Radisson instead. What a breath of relief it was to stay there. On a 1 out of 10 scale with 1 being the lowest, this hotel gets a negative 5.

“Possibly the worst hotel experience of my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

Stayed at this rat-hole three nights. Unfortunately, we were pre-booked with a tour group and could not get a refund. Otherwise, we would have escaped after the first night, and gladly paid more elsewhere. Our room was small, dirty, and smelly. The air conditioning did not work properly. Our room never colled below 30 (C). Opening the window didn't help, because the traffiic noise below was deafening, and remained so all night long. Hordes of school groups checked in and out during our three-night stay. Battling them for food at the otherwise okay breakfast buffet was a daily ritual. The staff was surly and uncooperative. We happened to be there for the World Cup final. Noticing that the so-called "bar" had no TV, we asked where we might watch the match. The bartender replied "in your room." That option might be OK in any decent hotel, but our room's TV was an 11-inch, ten-year old Philips, with a blurry screen. I could go on, but why bother. Stay anywhere else when you go to Istanbul.

“Old, dirty, outdated and the most unpleasant staff I've ever encountered”

Arriving here the reception is clean and open. That's where the good part ends!

I travel extensively for business and the companies I work for always book and pre-pay for the hotels. Arriving here I checked that payment had been received (just a matter of habit) only to be told they hadn't received payment. The staff assured me it would be taken care of. Three days later and after many expensive transatlantic calls and emails I was still be told by both the front desk and the central reservation office that I WAS EXPECTED TO PAY AGAIN!!!!!!

All this despite have had my office fax the receipt of the payment and having supplied them with the CC transaction number. They had by the way received payment nearly a week before I arrived.

The room is old, no plug in the sink, the grouting between the tiles is old and brown. One wall socket is hanging off with bare wires exposed and the bedside lamp threatens to electrocute you at every touch,

There is a mini bar complete with list and NO stock, if you want water .... well you just have to go and find some yourself!

All in all this is the worst run, most decrepit hotel it's ever been my misfortune to stay in.

Take a tip, sleep on the airport floor, it's cleaner, more modern and the staff are friendlier.

“dirty, smelly, unfriendly is the best we can say”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

A change in flight required an overnight stay. The reception seemed very nice, warm offering any help we may need. Floor 8 was dirty, smelly and old. The room was smellier than the hallway. The smell was coming from the drain in the middle of the bathroom. The bath had no plug and it took three telephone calls to the reception and a visit to the reception before any attempt was made to acquire one. Two hours later a friendly little guy arrived with a plug that had obviously been forcibly removed from some other guest’s bath. Gratings hanging off things like bathroom fan (didn’t work) Air conditioner (did not work and visit from “technical department representative” never happened). The lack of ac resulted in one of the most uncomfortable nights we have ever experienced. The water pressure was great and plenty of hot water as we discovered when we tried to use the bath. Someone had permanently sealed the bath screen to the bathtub which meant that you had to get into the bath in order to reach the taps! We also discovered that the direction (bath or shower) controller had the wonderful habit of randomly changing from one to the other at the most inconvenient times. We do not know how much hotel stars cost in Turkey but if this place has four then they must be really cheap. Members of staff were sullen and unhelpful but still seemed to expect a gratuity. Stay here at your peril.
