With this hotel, location is everything, being literally a couple of minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace, while the Grand Bazaar is within easy walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room comfortable and clean, with a fridge/minibar, safe deposit and TV which received BBC World. We had a balcony but didn't use it as there was no view and it had snowed just before we arrived, so we weren't going to sit outside! Although centrally located, the hotel is in a back-street, so that it was quiet at night - although we were aware of the railway at the rear, it didn't disturb us at all. Breakfast in the basement was O.K. but not great. Others have mentioned the rather eccentric practice of charging for orange juice and for tea-bags in the room, so I shan't labour the point except to say that at the end of our stay these "extras" didn't add up to a huge amount. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on it, though others who ate there said it was fine. In any case, there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. For the independent traveller, finding one's way from the airport can be hair-raising, so it might be helpful if I mention that we found a company called Backpackers on the internet, which provides a vehicle and driver to the door of the hotel for 20 euros each way. We pre-booked with them, were met at the airport, and on the day of our return they were not just prompt but early to pick us up at the hotel. Altogether we were very satisfied, both with the hotel and this transport arrangement.
