My wife and twin 8 yr old boys stayed for 4 days at Artefes. The most amazing part of the stay was the morning breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor, with a view overlooking the whole city and sea of Marmara. It really got the day started just right. We weren't in the hotel most of the day but we would sometimes come back to the restaurant and terrace for a quick evening tea and recharge. The night view of the beautifully lit Blue Mosque was also amazing. The staff - from the front desk through to the restaurant and the cleaning staff, all were equally kind and good at what they were doing. The rooms were very clean. We even had an incident where one of the other guests, mistakenly took our suitcase from the reception. The hotel manager was spectacular in his effort to correct the situation. All in all Istanbul is a great city and Artefes is a great place to enjoy this city from. It strikes a perfect balance between affordability, location, comfort and service.

Dirty carpets and reception, total lack of professionalism from the staff, rooms in a pitiful state (they'll try to put you in the worse ones first) those are the words to describe this hotel from which i excpected much better. The description on Expedia is extremely misleading. They state rooms have bath thubs - they don't; they state the hotel has a complimentary SPA, yet you have to pay 10 EUR per hour to use the same... All in all, to be short, a hotel to be definitely better avoided.

This is a nice small hotel located just blocks away from the Blue Mosque & Aye Sophia. More than the hotel or its breakfast, what we liked the most was the hospitality of the staff and its Manager (Mr. Murat). Murat made sure that we had an enjoyable vacation and took care of anything and everything. We stayed there for 6 days over the New Years and took two rooms, one of them being the only suite they have. The suite is a medium sized (in an European sense) room with a balcony overlooking the Sea of Marmara. Watched Sunrise from bed and just walked over for a nice breakfast on the roof. Our children's room was a double - small by American standard and medium by European standard.

We stayed at the Artefes Hotel for 6 nights, from 27 Dec, spending the New Year in Istanbul with a group of friends. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to most all of the must-see places in the city, and also close to numerous good restaurants and only 20-30 minutes from Ataturk Airport. The hotel itself is welcoming, although because it was December, we were not able to utilize the Roof Top restaurant amenity. The entire staff of the hotel is very friendly, doing everything to make our visit as enjoyable as possible. I worked with Mr. Murat when making our reservations, which he handled with expert efficiency. Bravo to the Artefes Hotel and staff, you provided us with a wonderful vacation and warm memories of your beautiful city!
