After leaving an expensive, run down Sheraton in Istanbul's business district we resettled in the Acropol in Sultanahmet. This hotel was a perfect blend of old world feel and modern comfort and convenience. The Acropol's manager exemplifies Turkish hospitality by greeting us upon arrival and telling us about the hotel's history. Our room (401) has a beautiful view across the Marmara Sea, a comfortable bed and high quality fixtures made our stay very pleasant. The morning breakfast is excellent, and the dinner time menu is great as well. The exercise room is well equipped, and all of the major tourist sites are within easy walking distance of the hotel. I would definitely stay at the Acropol again on a future visit.

We spent two nights here with six family members--ages 19-81. The location was outstanding just five minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, but the customer service was beyond all expectation. The rooms look like new and the hotel has a very nice steam room and exercise room, which the guests uae for free. We ate one night in the hotel and the food was very good. I highly recommend getting the sea bass. When we come back to Istanbul, we will certainly stay here.

This hotel is literally 100-200 meters from ALL of the major sights in Sultanahmet. We walked to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Cistern, and Grand Bazaar with no problems at all. Our room (304) was a "suite," with a small king-bedded bedroom and an outer room with two chairs that fold into single beds (we used one of those, slept well). The staff is very friendly and acommodating, and eager to please. We ate dinner there, it was nothing special but fine. Breakfast is also fine, nothing special but certainly adequate. One minor cavil is that in our entire "suite" there was not one box of kleenex?! How strange is that. From the third floor you have no view -- if it's important ask for an upper floor.

Istanbul was wonderful - fabulous architecture, history, blend of cultures, lovely people.
The Acropol was a perfect place to stay. The location is convenient to everything and the setting is a renovated Ottoman mansion. Mr. Ozlu, the manager, was exceedingly helpful and the staff were efficient and friendly. They were most helpful in arranging side trips. My room was very comfortable with a wonderful view of the sea. Breakfast was excellent with a full buffet and dishes, such as omelets, to order. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I heard about it from a friend who has stayed there on periodic business trips to Istanbul and urged me to stay there.
