“Its almost perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Me and my wife stayed from Jan 31st to Feb 4th as mentioned by other reviewers, the Hotel is litrelly next to Pazateke stop of T1 line and T1 line is the one which will take you to most of the tourist places. We were got into Istanbul late at night, toke the Metro to the hotel checked inn, they made copies of our passports, gave us a brief description of the area and and away we went, our room was on the third floor, despite it being next to the elevator, there was no noise, we were however in the annex section.
Our room was well equipped, with the exception of an Iron, which I am finding out is common thing in European hotels. The size of the room was good by European Standards, room had a view of the pool and the patio.
One very important thing, while taking a shower make sure to give your self some room to move around, as the water temperature will jump up to the tune of 20-30 degree without any reason for brief moments, if you are not careful you could hurt yourself trying to get away from the water. while this seems trivial, it really isn't,
The Internet went out one night at 4:00AM the staff came up quickly and fixed/resat and check with us to make sure it was running once again. kudos to the staff.
The lobby had plenty of comfortable spaces to sit and lounge as well as two computers (which were almost always occupied) to surf the internet. The cafe in the lounge was expensive 25 Lira for coffee and a scone.
Overall I was very happy with the hotel.

Room Tip: Watch out for the Jumping water temperature in the shower. The Annex rooms were very quite.

“Just about perfect...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This hotel could not be more easily accessible across the road from the Pazarteke stop of the T1 tram line. The room and bathroom wad clean and sufficient albeit slightly small. I was placed next to an elevator room 602 and the problems which I anticipated having to face such as excess noise of people comming and going were non existent. What spoiled this otherwise perfect stay was when I got to London and discovered a 15YTL charge on my visa. I skyped the hotel and queried it as all monies owed were settled on departure. The receptionists response that took my call was that when I checked in her colleague "had not got enough money from me". When I advised that the room was prepaid and all monies owed settled upon departure she repeated this response and told me to send an email if I wanted to take it further. I saw this as a insufficient response where for such a trivial charge I was not going to waste my time. This service experience however has prompted this review and would influence my decision to return to HI Istanbul City.

“A great start to 2012”

We checked in NYE and used the tram to get to the Holiday Inn from Ataturk (Havalimani) to Pazartekke, bargain journey at 4 TL each. Hotel is right outside the stop.

Check in was friendly and helpful even though it was busy with NYE preparations in the hotel. We used our points for the stay and was upgraded to a suite. This had the WOW factor and it was easily one of the best rooms we've stayed in for a while for comfort and style. The hotel grounds and interior are also high quality and better than the general holiday inn's I've stayed in elsewhere worldwide.

Everything from beginning to end was excellent and all the staff members were friendly and helpful.

Hotel is just inside the old city walls. So you'll need to travel round a bit to see all the sights but there are plenty trams, buses and dolmus/taxis around and you can always walk, we did.. Istanbul is that big and so much to see you'd be daft to think there is one area that is better than another for hotels.

Give this hotel a go, you'll be happy you did.

Room Tip: Book direct with Holiday Inn or join priority club. Never book third party.

“Not a bad location”

We stayed here as we wanted a hotel with a pool. Though it's a shame we could not use it on 2 out of the days we were there. The hotel uses the pool area for functions. Which is interesting for the first time but when they keep playing loud music till late and is on 2 nights in a row it becomes a nuisance.

We were upgraded to a suite, no apparent reason. We welcomed it. The suite was big and some funky lights

They had a barbecue brunch which was amazing but then cancelled the barbeque dinner with no notice. The reason another function.

Location is a bit away from the tourist sites but there is a direct tram. Which can get crowded in the evenings

A good size gym. We tried the hammam which was excellent.
Check out chimurat a local restaurant close by.

Room Tip: Get an upgrade. Don't ask for a pool view, it will get noisy if they have any Turkish function.

“Good hotel to stay in Istanbul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The Holiday Inn Istanbul city is a comfortable hotel to stay in. The bets thing is that there is a tram station right opposite the hotel and you can be in Sultanahmet in 15 minutes. The staff is extremely friendly and do all they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
