“Very expensive and challenging location, amazing customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I would recommend this hotel for a short stay; the old palace is beautiful, the customer service is exceptional, and the entire place is impeccably clean. The rooms are nicely appointed, and the highlight is the 5 piece bathroom. A view of the Bosphorus is very nice, but I am not certain it is worth and extra 90 Euro a night. We were here as part of a business trip and the business facilities were very nice and well maintained. The hotel had two very significant draw-backs:
a) For individuals wanting to explore Istanbul, the distance from Sultanamet, and the majority of the tourist attraction (Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Hippodrome etc) was a detraction - a very unpleasant 25 minute cab ride (beware of corrupt taxi drivers) made it difficult to hop in and out of the hotel, and
b) the hotel did not have any convenience type shops, which meant having to leave the grounds to pick up items like sodas and light snacks, or affordable (light and simple) breakfasts. While I appreciate that this is a very high end establishment, I would still appreciate a small shop for sundry items.
Laledan and Turga were very good - excellent service, very good food. Room service on the other hand was VERY overpriced and disappointingly mediocre, even down right bad.
So while I believe the hotel is certainly worth a (short-term) visit, I do not think I would return.

“One of the best hotels in Eurasia!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

What can I say about this hotel?? Everything was as luxury hospitality services should be in every hotel!!! Turkey is famous for its tourism yet overall the country is far behind a proper star rating system whith many proclaimed 5 stars to be proven to be 4 stars at least. Ciragan Palace though is not only an exception but a bright example for hoteliers all over Europe on how luxury services are offered!!

The ""new" building is relatively old with the decadent othoman additions in design being evident in all the wings (kitch gold and silver and coloured glasses etc) but in Ciragan this is an enjoyment and in Istanbul this is a trade mark and part of the experience! I had a Bosphorus view room which was spacious and clean yet as decadent but this is something you like or hate I position the room's style as part of the experience as my likes are more minimal.

What can I say about the breakfast and the breakfast room, the super helpful staff, the brialliant tastes in the restaurant and the best massage ever. The outdoor pool area is fab the indoor pool area is a bit less than expected. The outdoors of the Cirgana Palace are just magnifiscent with the old palace section to be the main jewel of the hotel.

This is definately Istanbul's landmark hotel and would definately visit again and recommend it by all means!!

“very beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Stayed in this hotel in January for one night. The hotel is beautifully decorated. Rooms are very nice and spacious, very comfortable bed. They are located in the new building, not the palace itself, which is fine, since it give you the view of the palace.
Location of the hotel is great, right on the Bosphorus, short walk from Ortakoy, which is very nice with lots of restorants (we had dinner at Bayan restorant and the food was amazing).
The spa area is nice, lovely outside pool, heated, and we really enjoyed the swim while it was snowing, looking at palace and Bosphorus, that was truly something else. :)
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We went to the palace to check it out and the consierge there was very nice and gave us the tour of the suits.
The breakfast buffer had a huge selection, but unfortunatelly the taste wasn't as good as one would expect. Not that it was bad, just nothing special.
All in all beautiful hotel, a bit pricy for us, so we treated ourselves with one night there and it was really nice experience.

“What a fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

person found this review helpful

I have been meaning to write this for some time....

Our stay was at the start of our Orient Express trip to Venice.

Our room and service was fantastic.

Breakfast has got to be the best buffet breakfast and location anywhere in the World!

If I have any 'slight' negatives to report the would be the price of a Herdricks Gin and tonic!!...and perhaps the impersonal attitude of just 'some' staff.

Otherwise...one of the World's 'must stay at' Hotels!
