“Good location and facilities for a budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The hotel has all the basic amenities you expect from a budget hotel .The location is close to major historical attractions .So i must say it is not bad value for money. However at night they was noise coming from the wall .I complained to the reception but i was told by receptionist that all the hotels nearby have those noises and nothing can be done about it.Although the noise might not be in all rooms but i will advise to carry earplugs along as you might need them .The hotel has a nice breakfast buffet of pepperoni, eggs ,olives cheese ,bread, cereals ,yogurt.orange. cherry juice and coffee. One downside of staying in the hotel is that there were not many people in breakfast room to socialise with.i had a friend staying at agora hostel nearby which had a very crowded breakfast room every morning full of travellers especially students that one could socialise with but my hotel's breakfast room used to be empty mostly.

Room Tip: Avoid touriasty sultanahmet area and stay on the asian side or Taksim square

“quiet, cozy but not perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Nice, quiet location with a killer step to get into the lobby. As normal a really nice desk clerk. Nice breakfast on the roof. I have only stayed in two Istanbul hotels but compared to our terrible experience with the Antik Ipek/Malabadi scam, this was heaven on earth. The beds were small and some what uncomfortable.

wow..really..i am working as a travel-agent, and i see hundreds of different hotels in a year..this trip was not business , but for my own interests in Istanbul..and for that Kaftan hotel is perfectly situated..all historical places i needed to visit..were just to close to be true...hotel size is just perfect if you usually work with people..not too big what makes it very cozy and comfortable..rooms size is normal..i managed to fit in with my big bag, cause usually i don't..always very well cleaned..and nice white slippers :))..had a very nice view..boats, boats, boats during the day..and beatiful citylights at night...service..well..people were very kind..if i was dead tired of walking around, organized dinner for me and also without no problem a bus back to airport..although as the hotel has a very good location , it is really easy to get to the hotel and then get back to the airportl on your own..really, people in the hotell were really nice and helpful..and that smiling lady in the breakfastroom..always made sure you eat enough and you are happy with your food..i still miss her :)..really if you wanna make a small citybreak, where hotel should be well located and not too many other tourists..this is IT..price and accomondation is balanced..as i like Istanbul..i am sure i will return..and of course back to Kaftan :) my thumbs are up..breakfastroom..also has a nice view :)

“Close to tourist attractions, but also to train :(”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

The hotel has a very good location, quite neighbourhood with terraces and restaurant and - reaching - as they say in the presentation - the Blue Mosque in ~2 min, Hagia Sophia in 3. Also the rooms were nice and the personnel quite ok. the only problem was the the rooms in the front were smaller and no view, but in the rooms in the back you had to deal with the train passing at ~ 30 metres. We got used to it thanks to year plugs (which I recommend for everybody in Istanbul unless you want to wake for the morning prayer :)). Overall the hotel was ok, but if I return I wil look for something with a better view and no train around :)

Room Tip: Best rooms - in the back. try to get one at the last floor (bellow the terrace) i think you can see...

“Great location & comfortable room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

This hotel was in the perfect location for us. It is a stone's throw from the main signts of Sultanahmet and from the waterfront yet down a pretty quiet little street.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is lovely with quite a lot of character. It's not flash or very posh but doesn't pretend to be. All of the communal areas were nice but the rooftop area where we ate breakfast was really lovely. The view over the Bospherous was excellent and a real bonus.

The room itself was really nice. Basic but actually really nicely designed with very stylish furniture. The bathroom was also nice and clean.

The breakfast was lovely. It wasn't huge but it was certainly enough for us and everything seemed fresh and good quality.

No complaints!
