I went to Ketha with my wife and a few friends for one night and breakfast the next day. We were told that Ketha has a cook and a fully equipped kitchen. So we took provisions for the meals.
Sad to say we were so concerned about the hygiene of the place that we were unable to have the R&R which was the sole purpose behind the getaway. I have set out the negatives of Ketha below;
1) The kitchen i.e. the cooking surfaces, pots and pans including the cutting board were visibly dirty.
2) There were geckos and cockroaches everywhere (kitchen, rooms and bathrooms) So much so that we were warned to cover the cooked food with newspapers.
3) The "fully equipped kitchen" had a LPG Gas cylinder which was EMPTY and so the cooking was done with firewood in a detached kitchen (outside the bungalow).
4) The kitchen and bathrooms are bare and did not even have a bar of soap.
5) The shower base was clogged and floods the bathroom unless you control the water flow.
6) Once the hot water is used in the kitchen to wash the pots and pans, the bathrooms do not have any supply.
7) The place is not that well lit
Of course a few good things were;
1) The cook and her caretaker husband are reasonably friendly
2) The view from the bungalow was ok and the sitting area seemed reasonably well thought out
3) The bed linen looked clean and the beds had clean mosquito nets
4) Its close to Colombo
