Stayed here for just one night at the start of our trip to Sri Lanka and for the most part will have pretty good memories of the hotel.

We stayed in the newly renovated wing of the hotel and found the rooms to be modern and well appointed and at a level comparable with a decent hotel anywhere in the world. The bedding was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom was modern and shower had good pressured hot water. TV had a selection of satellite channels and the AC was quiet and worked very well.

The hotel is quite centrally located not far from the waterfront, around 1km or so to Galle Face Green.

Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get breakfast included and were leaving too early the next day to catch a train for that to be an issue.

The hotel certainly wasn’t cheap, and this wasn’t helped by the more than $20 worth of taxes and charges that were added to the room rate – 12% VAT, 10% service charge, and 4.9% city tax!! However, I guess you need to bear in mind that hotels in Sri Lanka are generally more expensive than in India for example.

It was also a little disappointing that after a long overnight flight we arrived at around 9am very tired and were not allowed to check in (even though there were rooms available) unless we paid a half day rate. While I understand the policy, this just made us feel like the hotel were more interested in the money than in providing a level of customer service that many hotels would have been happy to offer. The policy of charging for wifi seems to support this view sadly.

Overall a nice hotel and would be happy to go back.

I booked this room not to sleep in but to rest and shower in between arriving in Colombo in the early afternoon and flying out at midnight. I chose the Renuka as it was close to Barefoot and I wanted to do some souvenir shopping. There are also a couple of shopping centres within walking distance, although this part of Galle Rd is fairly bleak. We got the twin single room, and it had a nice modern and clean bathroom, with quite a large shower. We did lie down on the beds for a bit and they were comfortable and firm. The staff at the front were very helpful with sending a letter even though the post office was already shut. You probably wouldn't want to stay more than 2 nights if there were 2 of you, but we found the room very nice and suitable for our means. Couldn't complain about the price either, and it was a much better alternative that sitting in Colombo airport for 8 hours.

Well located on the Gaol road, right beside the sea shore, Renuka offers a nice walk on the beach side. Though rooms little expensive for what they offer in return. I enjoyed my stay as I had got the suit on the third floor and that was a comfortable room. Te business centre was quite efficient and the staff is very friendly. The recenption lady helped me out extensively to find out various phone numbers that I was looking for as I had to get my flights changed. I really enjoyed the sumptuous lunch and dinner at their restaurant. It is right on the main road so very approachable and one does not need to remember the hotel address as it is quite a well known place in Colombo... I enjoyed the stay.

I stayed here first time. The room rent wast 106 USD inclusive of taxes. The hotel has got two wings. the room was quite spacious and clean. the hotel also provide wifi facility though you need to pay extra for it
