I stayed at Janaki for a few weeks on a business trip and at first was rather impressed by the room for the price. Generally the room and bathroom were well maintained and cleaned. There is a coffee shop and restaurant down stairs which is convenient.
On the down side. Service by the reception staff varied, unfortunately some times it was just down right rude. A handful of female prostitutes appeared to live in and use the hotel (reasonably discretely) as the place to bring their clients, or rather their clients knew where to come because they mainly stayed in the lobby after 9pm waiting for clients.
Additionally, as a female western woman travelling alone, it was assumed by one of the restaurant staff that I was 'fair game' and on bringing me room service one night he preceded to close the door behind him and try to kiss me.
I don't recommend this as a hotel to stay if you are a woman travelling alone.
