“Dirty and BED BUGS!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

It's good that I saw the bed bugs before I stayed the night there!
Rooms wer dark and grotty, no window! We had to ask for clean sheets as it looked as though the beds hadn't even been changed but turned out they were just as bad covered in stains!
When I approached reception about the bed bugs they didn't seem at all surprised! Which I think is horrible that they know about it and still let you stay there! They offered me only 50% of the money back, of course I didn't leave until I got a full refund. Either way I wouldn't stay here everything was bad, bed bugs or not.

“Bed Bugs!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

It's 2.30am and we have been woken by bad bugs at the Phonepaseuth Guest House.
What can I say? All else is OK. A/C, hot shower, cable tv, wifi, fridge - but the bed bugs are unforgiveable. Reading some on-line reviews, this place has had them for a while - I should have checked.
We will be moving to another hotel when the reception opens.

“It's a deal, especially for the location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

We arrived in Vietiane and found this hotel to be clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The room we had was large with a nice view. I enjoyed people watching at the front of the hotel. It is close to the center of town and there are many things to walk to nearby. The manager during the day speaks english well and is extremely friendly! I believe his name is Mr. Samai and could not have been more accomodating. They have other locations nearby as we stayed at another named Khamkhoun Hotel when we returned from our journey and this Guesthouse was full.

“Didn't even unpack!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2009

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night when we arrived in Vientiane without a hotel booking and could not find anywhere to stay. The room was dingy with a window that was bricked up and the bathroom was grimy with mould stains on the shower curtain. The entire room smelled like a urinal cake. Worst of all, in the morning, I learned that there were bed bugs which nearly ate me alive.

We didn't even unpack our bags - we slept, woke up and immediately checked out and went hunting for other accommodation. If you can't find anywhere else to stay, you'd be better to ask the tuk tuk drivers on the street - they might be able to help! Otherwise, be sure to bring a sleep sack and to check really well before putting up your mozzie net.

“Exspensive and not so nice..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2009

Our room at 14 US dollars had no window, and it smelled so bad of anti-bug-spray that we could not be in the room for hours. On each floor there is 4 rooms: one really nice with windows and a balcony, and 3 others without windows.
We found much nicer rooms 300 meters further up the street.

  • Liked — The central location
  • Disliked — The terrible smell of anti-bug-spray in the room
