Reservation & reception: I communicated it by email and all was honoured, e.g. requesting a room on higher floor facing the Wat. However, the reception staff was unfriendly, no smile in her face, very cold atmosphere. They explained nothing about the hotel, like simple things, e.g. times of breakfast and where to take it. The staff just not say anything, probably they need to have more training (?).There were 2 computers to use with free internet in the lobby.
I arranged with the hotel for transfer both ways, all worked well.
Room: My room was on the 3rd floor (corner room), with 2 single beds. Good size of a room with good writing desk, cleaned everyday, sometimes was done during my breakfast. Enough light for reading/writing purposes in the evening, old fashioned tv but worked well, ac, drinking water supplies (no kettle for coffee/tea), enough space for storing luggage/clothes. Good size bathroom with shampoo/soap etc, + towels. Quite noisy at night but I am satisfied with the room on the whole.
Breakfast: across the reception with the view of the Wat accross and river boulevard with sunshine when lucky. Good variation of dishes, Asian and European, although it took sometime to fill when empty which often happened during my stay.
Entrance: 2 possibilities, through the parking area and then up with a lift or through a few steps up from the main entrance.
Cash payment was in Kip. When I tried to find out how much the total cost was in Kip (as the currency used for the room charge was in USD), I was not happy with the answer because of their bad currency converter. So I decided why bother paying in cash involving changing money first, so I paid with credit card.
In conclusion, knowing what I know now, I will still comeback to stay when I am in Vientiane.
Room Tip: Ask for a higher and corner room as it will have a view of Wat and river boulevard.
