“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

This is a very pleasant guesthouse (really, more of a hotel) in a great, central location on a quiet street in the centre of Vientiane. Within less than a minute's walk there's a big selection of good restaurants, bakeries and shops, as well as banks, massage, hairdressers etc. I stayed on the 4th (and highest) floor of the front building and the room was fresh and clean with the best bathroom I'd had in my entire trip through Laos. Breakfast was adequate and the staff were lovely. The biggest negative for this guesthouse is that there isn't an elevator so it's a fair number of steps up to the rooms on the higher floors. That's the only thing that caused me to rate this property a 'very good' rather than an 'excellent'.

Room Tip: If you can't manage steps, make sure you ask for a ground floor room when you make your booking.

We loved this guest house. As soon as we arrived the staff gave us a welcome drink. It was almost full so we were lucky to get a room. Rooms were clean with confortable beds. TV didnt work though. Shower was ok and very clean. Good breakfast with great cofee. Recomended

“Great location, laughable design flaws”

As long as we kept in mind that we were paying $26 a night we were pleased. The breakfast area was charming & the room was...fine. As soon as we lost the context of the price we wondered why they allowed a creature who has never used a bathroom to design the one in our hotel room. Seriously, the toilet was two feet from the wall, with the paper & sprayer 180degrees behind the toilet. If you wanted to sit while showering, no problem - the shower head was directly above the toilet. All that and the door didn't close.
For us, we were thrilled with the location, which mattered more than the hillariously frustrating bathroom.
On another note, the canteloupe shakes at the cafe across the street were amazing.

Room Tip: Avoid room 404 and the bathroom of doom.

“Reward at the end of an 11 hr bus journey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This hotel is a tranquil space on a quiet street in Vientiane. It has a gorgeous leafy courtyard in the centre where breakfast is served each morning, and very friendly, helpful staff. Our room was quiet and clean and we have no complaints about this lovely hotel.

“Location and Price make this a good choice”

We stayed here for 3 nights as the first stage of a 2 week sojurn in Laos.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Internet access (for those of us who travel without a notebook) in the lobby. The guest house seems to be an old colonial building converted into guest rooms.
Location is perfect, a few minutes from central Vientiane and a square with the Scandanavian Bakery and the BEST french restaurant I have ever eaten in.
As the breakfast is just okay, i was grateful to my travelling companion who would return to our room with a coffee from the Bakery after an early morning walk.
The rooms are scrupulously clean and the ladies who look after them are great. They (the rooms) are slightly dated and old fashioned but to be honest as they are so clean, the furnishings just add to the charm.
The shower takes a bit of getting used to. A tiny hot water heater perches on the bathroom wall and it takes a while to learn how to use the controls. The shower does squirt all over the bathroom so we just removed anything (including the toliet paper) we didn't want to get wet. We got used to it and it became a joke between us, my friend having stayed in Malaysia many years ago at a family home. She learned how to use it then.
We had a room on the ground floor facing the wonderful garden with a patio we were able to sit at and chat to other guests.
The garden is the absolute highlight during the day, for breakfast and especially at night with lights twinkling in the trees.
Very very comfortable and a warm welcome to Laos. The price is fantastic and my overall thoughts are that it is charming and hospitable place to stay - I would certainly return.
