“great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

I enjoyed my stay in this friendly family run hotel. it is great value, better than any others I heard of, it's position is away from tourist area which I like, the pool was wonderful every afternoon. the breakfasts are good, and I would recommend it to those who don't demand super cleanliness, but just want to have a relaxing time and a pool.

“Villa Sisavad - Please paint the wall asap!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2010

For the forth time i have stayed at this run down Villa, my earlier visits were ok, the rooms were nice and clean enough and the swimming pool was not too bad. But this time I got the worst of all rooms n.14 (i hope there is no worst than this). Air conditioner old and noisy, had it to run for 24hr before getting a fairly cool room. The shower hose was broken and the water was running scarcely. The wall were covered with mould in some places. Had some gecko "waste" on the wall. The swimming pool was slimy. They also charged me for using the in house wi-fi ($1.30) when in these days internet it's free almost everywhere. The price for the room is still 500THB as for my previous visits but still will not be enough to assure my next visit. The French owners should give it a good hand of paint, fix the showers hoses, the old air conditioners and clean the swimming pool regularly. And maybe they will see me back again.

“Nothing to write home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2009

I found this guest house online an e-mailed the guest house to ask for a pickup from the Thai embassy where I was to be dropped off at from a mini-bus from Pattaya.

They told me they only did pickups from the airport, which is further away!

They seemed to be not too intersted in helping me give them business.

When I arrived outside the embassy I found transport and made my ow way to this guest house.

I booked in for 3 nights, the staff did not speak English too well and the room could have done with a good make over.

Tes it had TV and hot shower, but for $15 per night it was a good walk from the town center, it did have a swimming pool though.

All in all this guest house offered nothing special apart from a swimming pool, the wifi was not FREE, it cost 1.30 Euro per day.
Breakfast costs $3 per day.

I would not stay again as there are many guest houses in Vientiane to choose from, although it was good to find one online and not search the streets.

“A Surprise: Good Value in a City of Declining Guesthouse-Standards”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

The big 'no-no' here is distance. According to the [Hobo] map of Vientiane, Villa Sisavad is in the distant North. On our 11th visit to this little city, however, we've learned to avoid the ever-inflating prices of tuk-tuks and walk: half an hour to the new Thai consulate; 20 minutes to riverside. The area isn't 'rough'; rather, working class [with cheap good food available on the pavement]. But the guest house: a 'real' swimming pool - deep and long, with trees, tables, Beer Lao; a free decent breakfast; as-good-as-you-could-expect-in-Vientiane cable TV, air-con; clean, spacious en suite bathroom; average service; and an interesting selection of fellow-guests, most seemingly on a Thai-visa run.

“Good inexpensive accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2009

Villa Sisavad is a small family run place. Not all members speak English but someone is always around to assist. Remember Lao is fairly new to tourism and this is why we venture to these places.
The family is very friendly and it is a safe place to stay. The rooms are clean, basic and very large with TV, ‘frig. The bathroom was one of the largest I have had in budget accommodation. They have a lovely pool and internet.
It is a little out of town but we hired bikes and rode in each day and returned late afternoon for a refreshing swim.
We spent our days cycling along the Mekong and visiting local villages and temples.
Breakfast at the Scandinavian Bakery was excellent with a wide range of foods available.
I would certainly recommend it. My review is based on value for money and I was certainly pleased with it.
