“A great hotel in Bishkek offering really warm hospitality and service”

I came to work in Bishkek and shortly after arrival picked up a chest infection and had to stay at SIlk Road Lodge longer than I anticipated. It is no fun being sick away from home, but I found that, from the manager to cleaning and other support staff, everyone did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel offers a good buffet breakfast and has a varied menu for a la carte dishes. Make sure to ask for expresso coffee at breakfast otherwise you will be given ordinary instant coffee. There is a small gym area around a swimming pool together with a sauna which staff will put on for you with an hours notice. The hotel also provides a free pick up service to and from the airport, which was a great service particularly if you arrive in the early hours of the morning and first time to the country. It is quite central and a short walk from the city center. It was possible to organise internet and laundry services within the room rate. I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Bishkek.

Room Tip: get a suite room, best size and comfort

“Good service and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

I spent four days here while on business in Bishkek. The staff are friendly. Location is good. The sauna is relaxing. Would stay here again.

“Extremely friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed at Silk Road Lodge for 2 weeks at the beginning of this year. It was well worth of it. This was my third stay at this hotel, this time I saw hallways, lobby and restaurant renovated. It is extra-cozy and looks fancy. There was a lot of light from the big windows in my room. After a long flight and a long drive from Almaty to Bishkek, it was a great place with a great King bed. My room was big enough to take in 5 people at a time, but I stayed alone in the room next to the elevator. Hotel employees were very friendly but serious guys. Security was always welcoming. Hotel manager was always in the lobby area greeting us.

There were news channels in English, one can dream about being in Central Asia. the most liked feature is the free library in business center.

I can not say anything bad about the hotel, it is far better than most of the hotels in US.

“Set up well for expat workers”

I love this guesthouse. While others might find it threadbare, I find it homey. Rooms are large and airy with good window light and comfortable furniture. Amenities serve expat/UN workers well: coffee pot, mini fridge, sink, ironing board, internet, TV/DVD player and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. If you are here for a while, be sure to ask the manager about recommendations for local tour guides who will take you into the stunning nearby mountains for hikes. picnics, etc. I travel for work constantly and only wish I had everywhere the kind of relationship with hotel staff that I have here.

“A safe bet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

As others said, this is a good hotel with spacious rooms (at least the deluxe one I was in), helpful staff, very clean rooms and a good location. The facilities in the room (fridge, air conditioning, kettle, safe) made my stay comfortable. I can only remark that the breakfast is not enticing, at least to my western taste, and that the Internet connection is capped at 100MB per day. One last thing: the breakfast room/restaurant is in the basement, which is rather melancholic.
