“Excellent.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Good location, very clean and comfortable room. We were right across from the nightclub but it was really not that loud and the windows blocked out most of the sound. We barely noticed it. The staff were exceptional, so welcoming and helpful. Helped us arrange tours and our bus to Siem Reap. The taxi driver for our city tour was also excellent.

“Night receptionist called to offer a "lady"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

One night out of boredness I stepped out of the room, looked around and I guess the night receptionist saw me on the camera and called, asking me if I would like a lady to come into my room. Then I disconnected the phone. Unbelievable. So not only was I put into a room with a broken lock, stinky fridge and limescale on the faucet (shouldn't be difficult to clean), but they also offer "special services". I am a traveller with lots of self-respect and only good intentions for Cambodia and never do I want to do anything like that.

“Bkk Colonel”

I had a very enjoyable 4-day weekend stay at the Cara and found it be excellent for the price.
The Hotel offers a large number of extras including free wi-fi and breakfast with a very adequate menu, the food was well cooked and presented and the Staff were attentive and extra-ordinarily friendly, but then that applies to all Cambodians it seems, who smile without stop. The twin bed aircon room with shower & toilet was scrupulously clean, comfortable and maintained with slim-line TV, free coffee & tea-making facility and adequate cupboard space.
It is conveniently located within the City and is highly recommended.

Room Tip: There is a nightclub opposite the hotel which can be noisy.

“Very Nice hotel, huge room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We found this hotel at the very last minute, so getting a confrimation of our booking was a bit of a nightmare, but the hotel staff were extremely helpful. The reception area is lovely, our bedroom was very nice, the shower was good, and our room was huge, with two balconies. there was a tea and coffee and toiletries and overall it was very welcoming. you could hear the nightclub slightly, but it wasnt really a problem, you can walk to the main riverfront area but probably easier to get a tuk tuk, which are everywhere and very cheap. so the location is not the best, but still very convenient
breakfast was very generous and enjoyable, and overall it was a great stay.
Compared to the places we stayed in sihnoukville and Siem reap it was really quite expensive, but that may just be becasue it is the capital city and it is still very good value for money by british standards.
I would definately recemmend this hotel

Room Tip: You can get a room without a window, which is cheaper, but personally i would go for a window everyt...

“Great hotel near riverfront and Wat Phnom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We spent one night at the Hotel Cara before flying back home. Hotel Cara is a boutique hotel with helpful staff at the reception and a partnership with a close by spa, Amara Spa. They offer free round trip transport via tuk tuk to the spa.

There is free wifi available as well as a small computer bay on the second floor. There is a DVD player in the room and a library of DVDs available to rent for free from the lobby. There is an ANZ ATM across the street at the gas station if you need to change money.

Breakfast was included with our stay and was ok. There weren't many dishes available, but the selection of fruit was quite good and the staff in the restaurant was friendly.

Hotel Cara is very close to the riverfront (Sisowath Quay), which has several great restaurants. It was also close to the Royal Palace and practically next to Wat Phnom.

The hotel helped us book a private car to the airport for $10 and it arrived early, which was really appreciated given we had a bad private car experience coming from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh.

The only challenge we faced was that the staff wasn't very proficient in English (apart from the reception staff). It wasn't a big problem, though.

Room Tip: If you're traveling with a group, the family suite has a king size bed and two twin bunk beds. T...
