“We found it great!”

stayed here in Nov 09 after looking at most hotels along the Tonle Sap rivefront. rooms were standard but ours were very clean. great views with large opening windows (if you get a riverfront room) Met the owner who organised accomodation for us in Siam Reap at the other hotel he owns (Neak Pean) also organised a driver for us who took us up to Siam Reap and drove us around for 4 days, then bought us back to Phnom Penh. All in all, I would definately stay there again.

“Khmer Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2010

The hotel room was amazing, with clean sheets and bathroom. Fantastic view of the the main road and Mekong river. You can enjoy the buzzling city down below with children doing breakdancing and street stalls. Down side of a tiny sized lift for 3. But an overall good stay for affordable prices.

“all our first choices were booked up - but this was suprisingly okay”

We're a family of three and had a large room that overlooked the Meekong for $45US. It had a restaurant on the rooftop and breakfast was included in the price - buffet with a reasonable selection of both asian and western. Yep the rooms weren't the cleanest but definitely not the worst we looked at. Huge windows in our room so it was great watching all the boat traffic on the river, and all the locals by the river in the evening. We found the staff at this place extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble - looked after our luggage at reception till our bus came etc. Also has free internet in the lobby - 3 computers.

“very poor hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2009

we made the fatal mistake of allowing our taxi driver to recommend this hotel. it has nice views of the river but that's about it. the room was big but it was filthy - loads of rubbish under the bed (the staffs' children used the rooms during the day as a kind of creche). the beds were like sleeping on boards. the breakfast was terrible. they lost some of our washing and then denied we'd ever handed it to them (it was found eventually but i had to argue) and then, to top it all off, the plumbing system above our room sprung a leak and we had a water feature in our room. Plus it wasnt cheap. The only upside was that the staff did seem friendly unfortunately they were just clueless. Our top tip? do your research and stay somewhere else - there are some great boutique hotels in this city. We went up to siem reap for a couple of days and when we came back we stayed in the FCC - boy what a difference and for only USD12.00 a night more than this hotel.

“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2009

We have been at the Khmer Royal Hotel for the first time. The location ist nice, just along the river. The rooms are okay, only cleaning is really weak, the rooms are not up to the standards we expect.
We did not try the food as there was only a Lebanese restaurant adjacent to the hotel.
