“paragon review - cambodia Jan 2012”

i wrote a thankyou email to the hotel and they suggested i add my views to this website... so here they are: paragon is centrally located, clean and friendly and a pleasure to stay at. ok, so the bathroom facilities were rudimentary, and the television reception not the clearest i could not fault the place. well, the lift didnt work for a few days, which wasnt too bad as i was on the second floor (note: the stairs are as steep as hell), but it was fixed pretty soon and life returned to normal! at $23/night i was happy as larry. the views from the balcony are amongst the best in this rocking city. i suggest anyone give it a go... i dont think youll get much better for the price. one recommendation though - learn some khmer and you will find your stay a more pleasurable one, especially as the hawkers tend to hang just outside the front door.

“return to paragon”

This is my 2nd stay at Paragon. Stayed 6 nights at $17/night for standard room without window(#403). It is worth the extra we pay for, to experience the atmosphere on the waterfront. Since my first stay in 2008, the hotel has maintained its quality and not deteriorated. The floor is spotless, linen is clean. Coffee maker in the room is a nice touch. The well connected owner and family live on the premises, which makes a difference in the upkeep. The friendly staff is very efficient and speaks good english. CCTV cameras promote good security for the premises.
Centrally located at corner of 136 St between the Silver Palace and night market. On the way to the Central Market, 136 St has 24hr convenience shops, interesting restaurants, chinese kueh teow breakfast places and pharmacies. Certainly, I shall return to Paragon.

Room Tip: A room without window is quiet, and customers can make use of the shared balcony.

“Revisited 2011, still a good place to stay.”

Spent 2 months in Cambodia, April/May 2011, stayed at Paragon over 2 weeks spread out over my entire stay. Staff remembered me and were very friendly. I tried a couple new rooms, this time single rooms, on the 4th floor and was very happy with room 411. It was quieter than lower floors, the room was clean and good size. This room has a simple open shower setup rather than an enclosed shower but I am totally comfortable with this. The big plus was that I was pretty much alone in this wing of the 4th floor and it was so quiet. The balcony remains a big winner for me, it wraps around the front and side of the hotel offering a great view of the Mekong. One huge improvement from last year is that the riverside promenade facelift is completed and what a beautiful job they did, so pleasant to spend time there early morning or after the sun has set when it comes to life with locals and tourists alike.

“You get what you paid for!!”

I don"t understand the winging of people in earlier reports.
In NovemberI had a great stay at Paragon Hotel in a nice room, second floor with a balcony (not a private one, but almost only used by me) facing the street and river. It was clean and big enough. I knew upfront, that there would be some traffic noise 24hrs a day, but I also knew how to protect myself from it by using earplugs!
Since I am very light sencitive, I also use eyeshades to get a good night sleep if the curtains are not dark enough.
I also like to underline that the staff, especially Thearo at the Reception Desk, was very kind and helpful. I can recommend the hotel and definitly will come again. You always get what you paid for and I think it was good value for money.

Room Tip: If you like a room with river view, you got to know that it will be noisy, even that you pay more th...

“Good location but make sure you get a river view.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011 via mobile

We stayed three nights. Service could have been more friendly and it was a bit of a nuisance having to go down to the lobby to get wi-fi. But we had a good room on the third floor with an excellent view over the river. High enough to have peace and quiet in the room.
