Our first impression upon arriving at the Royal Palace Hotel was that it was nice, if a little old looking (the decor looks like it hasn't been changed since the 1960's). It is also a little out of the way from pretty much everything, though there is a nice big supermarket down the road with KFC.We were pleased to find that our room was HUGE and that the window and curtains blocked out almost all noise and light (very good for sleep ins!). The bathroom was nice and big, though we had issues with the shower with the water constantly running either very cold or very hot, even though the temperature wasn't changed. The water pressure was very good though.
The complimentary breakfast wasn't nice at all. Cold frankfurts, brown looking eggs, and cold Asian fare had us visiting only once during our 3 night stay. The bed was rock hard - like sleeping on a concrete slab, and the internet and TV were turned off every night around midnight, which made for a very boring night when we got back to our room after a big night out. The staff were somewhat annoying, always getting things wrong, then lying if they were caught out.
So, why did I give this place 4 stars? Because of the price. For around $30 for a massive room it really can't be beat.
