“No renovations here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2009

Very old and grubby. My friend and I had to be careful to step around old vomit stains in the staircase, on the floor and walls. Despite this, we were comfortable enough in our room for our 2 night stay. The price for our twin at $30USD per night was more expensive than I thought it should be, but never having been to Phnom Penh before and having nothing to compare it with, I'm not sure how it rates value wise. We did find Cambodia in general to be considerably more expensive than we expected. With regard to the previous review, there was no sign of any renovations happening.

“Musty and Delapidated!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2008

This hotel probably peaked in the eighties and hasn't been renovated since. The carpets are musty and there is an oder that permeates the property. However, the friendly, helpful staff informed me that this hotel would start being renovated on 1 January and the renovation would last for six months. We paid $40 for a river view room. It was simply not worth it. As Phnom Penn is NOT a real tourist destination, you are better off walking from hotel to hotel on the river in search of a room. You can get a really nice room on the river for $30 with a/c.

“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2008

Booked here following good reviews in the Lonley Planet Guide. The Hotel was awful. Everything was dirty and smelt of smoke. We had to call them up to the room to change the sheets that had blood stains on them, the towels that were filthy, the pillows that were covered in stains. Breakfast was almost inedible, floors sticky and tablecloths filthy. Look at other guesthouses that are basic but CLEAN!

“Not value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2007

I agreed with Euter, from Spore's comment. The hotel looks good outside, but not worth paying US30 (I'm comparing the same price in KL hotel). The tap water always hot not warm. The lobby's cushion was torn. During check-in and check out it's quite slow.

“Unprofessionnal service”

We stay me and my family for 2 nights there. The first impression is that the location is good but this is the only good point. The rest was terrible. From the check in (no staff smile) to the check out. Between that, we wanted to find the ngo PSE to give them some present for the children. We ask the receptionist lady to call for us but it seems to be a terrible effort for her even knowing that we wanted to help the people from her country. She was not friendly and talk like this to all the guests at the front desk. I decided to inform her about her attitude and she answer to me that she is the manager!!!!! I told her in front of her staff that I do hope her employees don' t copy her. She just answer that she had a difficult day!!!! very funny. On the last morning, we did not have water in room as there was a plumbing problem in all the hotel. We did not have any apology from the staff and any discount for the inconvenience cause.

Actually, we had others problems but I have only one advice for you: AVOID THIS PLACE....

  • Liked — Room size and view
  • Disliked — service, breakfast, cleanliness, attitude from the manager
