“Room is ok, personal is excellent for tri stars hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

Old furniture, French colonial influence, quite charming. Our room on the 4rd floor was clean and the beds were just fine.Bathroom needs rebuilding. Only thing that i didn't like, as a non smoker, is an old smell of tobacco. We bought trip via agency in Thailand and probably forget to mentioned it that we prefer non smoking room.
However we stayed there only one night one very professional English speaking personal make our stay pleasant.

“Diamond hotel is a lump of coal”

Diamond hotel is no diamond. The hotel sells itself as a luxury hotel must have been years gone by in its earlier state. This is a two star hotel at best. The shower has no adequate hot water, yet the sink has adequate hot water. Washroom state is like out of an interogation movie. The staff are friendly and the location is close a short walk to the
Central Market. Breakfast okay but nothing to write home about.

“okay for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

On a tour of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, I stayed in The Diamond Hotel in Phnom-Penh for two nights. The single room was rather small and so was the bathroom and the space in the cupboard was limited, so I had to leave most of my clothes is my suitcase. But the rooms was clean and the breakfast excellent. The Central Market is just around the corner, but the hotel isn't very close to the rest of the interesting parts of Phnom-Penh and Monivong Blvd is a very busy road and you can just smell the pollution when stepping out of the hotel. But that's the same everywere in the city. The part of the city around the river were all the restaurants, pubs and nightlife can be found, is more than a thirty minute walk and in the tropical heat where you are completely sweating after just five minutes of exercise, you can better take a (motor)taxi, although negociating for a good price instead of a rip-off, will take up some time. If you don't want to travel, the only alternative is to go for the biggest chicken killer (KFC) across the road from the hotel and eat there. But overall, if you are only staying in Phnom-Penh for a couple of days and don't want to pay much for a decent and clean hotel, the Diamond can be recommended.

“Walk from central market, great breakfast, not so clean hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2009

The hotel is just across the street from the Central market (which i have to say has more choice than the Russian Markets), the restaurant served beautiful breakfast every morning. The rooms were nice but getting to them the corridoor carpets were stained, the lifts would only fit max 3 people. The staff were very friendly.

It was an ok hotel, i wouldn't reccommend it to others, usually if more than 2 Tuk Tuk drivers do not know where they are going (one took us in the complete opposite direction for 15 minutes) then there is something wrong with it.
