“Tired hotel needs updating!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Talk is they are going to renovate
Need to do this badly
Rooms comfortable and friendly staff but all us revealed walking up stairs as to how shabby most of the place really is
Breakfast very basic can't say anything much more than this
Location is not fantastic but guess if you want to be near Central Market it's a winner and given that it's reasonably quiet but for the same money there is a lot better on offer

“Good and ever better after renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

I am quite worried when checking in to this hotel as there were more bad reviews than good ones, but as the location is very near to my needs of my this business trip, i decided to give it a try.

While checking in, the lobby is dark but still serviceable, after got to my room, i know i have make a correct decision. As my room is one of the renovated one, all the stuffs are good, though some of the furniture are old, but they are still in good working order. There is also a balcony door, keep it open for a while and it can clear the unwanted smell in the room.

Check in to this hotel on 27 Oct 2011 and stay a total of 6nights. Pay about USD 40 a night inculding breaskfast in their newly renovated room. The room is clean, aircon is good, many TV channels to kept me occupied, good hot water shower and location is at it best if you know PP well. Staffs are good and breakfast are sufficent enough. They will lock the main entrance after 12midnight, but there is always a staff to standby at the entrance to unlock the door for hotel guests, Security wise is look upon. Not like many of others hotel i stay in PP, any Tom, Dick And Harry can come in and out they like.

This is a old hotel that are under going major renovation fr the next few months and i firmly believe that the after this major renovation, it will be beautiful to stay in.

Location is near many food eatery, near russian market, massage place hair salon and bascially its near many places if you know PP well.

I would return to Diamond hotel again when i visit PP.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a baloncy.

“Room is ok, personal is excellent for tri stars hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

Old furniture, French colonial influence, quite charming. Our room on the 4rd floor was clean and the beds were just fine.Bathroom needs rebuilding. Only thing that i didn't like, as a non smoker, is an old smell of tobacco. We bought trip via agency in Thailand and probably forget to mentioned it that we prefer non smoking room.
However we stayed there only one night one very professional English speaking personal make our stay pleasant.

“Diamond hotel is a lump of coal”

Diamond hotel is no diamond. The hotel sells itself as a luxury hotel must have been years gone by in its earlier state. This is a two star hotel at best. The shower has no adequate hot water, yet the sink has adequate hot water. Washroom state is like out of an interogation movie. The staff are friendly and the location is close a short walk to the
Central Market. Breakfast okay but nothing to write home about.

“okay for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

On a tour of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, I stayed in The Diamond Hotel in Phnom-Penh for two nights. The single room was rather small and so was the bathroom and the space in the cupboard was limited, so I had to leave most of my clothes is my suitcase. But the rooms was clean and the breakfast excellent. The Central Market is just around the corner, but the hotel isn't very close to the rest of the interesting parts of Phnom-Penh and Monivong Blvd is a very busy road and you can just smell the pollution when stepping out of the hotel. But that's the same everywere in the city. The part of the city around the river were all the restaurants, pubs and nightlife can be found, is more than a thirty minute walk and in the tropical heat where you are completely sweating after just five minutes of exercise, you can better take a (motor)taxi, although negociating for a good price instead of a rip-off, will take up some time. If you don't want to travel, the only alternative is to go for the biggest chicken killer (KFC) across the road from the hotel and eat there. But overall, if you are only staying in Phnom-Penh for a couple of days and don't want to pay much for a decent and clean hotel, the Diamond can be recommended.
