“L'Imprevu: dust vs pool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

This hotel is almost out of town on Hwy. 1 south. Tuk-tuk ride to center of PP $15 return. Do not get off the bus in PP and expect a good price to get here as they'll charge plenty. Move away from the terminal and hire one. Dust kicked up by road widening on highway out front that will last until at least May--they want to get done before the rains. Noisy too, unless you get a bungalow at the back. Great pool, though. Simple bungalows with small veranda among lush landscaping and has butterflies. Food is good too. No safe in room. Windows are screened and easily opened as they won't lock. Leave valuable at front desk. On map the place looks across from the Mekong but it's a few blocks away with no access nearby. Smokin' fast wi-fi here. Paid $18 USD through Agoda--great deal especially with the pool. Might be a rendevous spot for older Euro men and Cambodian women.

“A waste of so much potential.”

This place could really be something if the French owner would only pull out his finger and make an effort. My birthday weekend was less than average, let down by a mistake with our booking meaning I was left with what coulod only be described as an emergency room. Shower not working, fan clunking noisily, door didn't lock and pillows like concrete blocks. The food has resally goen downhill too. Once carefully presented and delicious, now comes with overcooked veg and cold meat. The place needs a damn good clean and refurbish and relic furniture removed. The icing on the cake was a foul-mouthed Cambodian woman shouting expletives in a drunken mannerover a child-laden swimming pool and the owner just sitting at the bar listening for over three hours before she left unchallenged. Customer Care is not a priority here. We will not be visiting again as there are loads of similar places in the city which can manage to give a hoot.

“Great pool, basic bungalows, but out of town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Excellent pool that was kept well cleaned. Tennis court not useable. Basic bungalow rooms, more equivalent of backpackers than hotel standard. Service slow despite few guests. Felt a little like being in somebody's home, not in that good way. Only 7km out of town but felt a long way in a tuktuk. Great tuktuk service with friendly, helpful driver. Good pizza.

“A true gem for the budget traveller needing a little R&R”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

I selected L'Imprevu because I wanted a place near Phnom Penh but '"äway from it all."
Their swimming pool is beautiful, large and cleaned twice a day The gardens are lush and it is a joy to sit outside in the early morning sipping on hot coffee while looking into a forest of trees and flowers, barely being able to seeing neighboring bungalows The food is very good. The rooms are basic with fan, A/C, refrig and TV plus comfortable beds and lots of hot water. I like L Imprevu so much I decided to stay for two months to write a book. Its a gem of a find for a budget traveller that I discovered here at tripadvisor.com.
