“Have stayed at Asia Hotel many times - no big problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2009

The Hotels name out front is Asia but the Khmer/French name is Asie. Say Asie to tuk tuk drivers and they will usually understand.

As stated by others it is best to use your own lock for the lockers in the reception area. Never had a problem doing that.

There are 2 elevators and the one to the left of reception is unreliable. Take the one behind reception or the stairs.

I usually pay 20 USD for a single room with a simple breakfast with almost free pickup at airport( just 1 USD for parking. A taxi will cost 7 to 10 USD).

The room is fine with a desk, chair and fridge and tv and aircon and hot and cold bath. The bed is also fine for me. I even had a balcony out to moniwong blvd but a lot of noise if you want to sit there.

I always pay one day at a time in cash so I can checkout next day with no problems if I get too unsatisfied.

The location is very central but maybe it would be better with a location closer to the river.

I dont usually eat lunch or dinner at hotel so cannot comment on that but they have some chinese stuff as many customers are chinese.

“The Pits, Avoid Like The Plague!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2008

Security and peace of mind should be priorities, Asia Hotel offers little of either.

As well as those issues, in this instance the word deluxe somehow got lost in translation. My room was well and truly basic and really musty.

Their websites states: room safe, my room had no such thing. Their website states: coffee/tea making facilities, my room had no such thing. Their website states: balcony with a view of Monivong Boulevard - well I searched everywhere, under the bed, in the bathroom, in the cupboards yet could find no sign of a balcony. Their brochure which you pick up at reception states: Free Internet (no mention of any conditions), the reality is under most circumstances you have to pay.

So in retrospect let's give them the benefit of the doubt re the room, no matter how unlikely perhaps they gave me the wrong type in error and it was a genuine mistake. I was in such a state of shock at the whole set up I didn't even hang around to ask.

I did however ask about the safe situation. The nervous response was I should go shopping, buy a lock and then could use one of the lockers behind reception. Say what?! When I asked why, the shifty answer was because they have security problems!

Oh, and take the lift up and down if you want another freaky experience. it's a shocker.

Within one hour of arriving I'd seen enough, cut my losses and escaped.

It's without doubt one of the worst hotels I've come across in many years of travelling. Phnom Penh has much better on offer at the same price or even less. Do yourself a favour and avoid this one like the plague!

“Don't stay at this hotel! They're liar.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2008

I booked a room at this hotel with free pick-up from the airport, but when I came nobody picked me up. I came to hotel by myself and of course, paid by myself.
I booked a twin room but they gave me a single room with one more bed. The room was really small and toilet was broken.
On the website, it said that internet is free, but it wasn't. I had to pay $1 for using internet 30 minutes. I asked receptionist why I needed to pay if it's free. They said it's free for VIP room only.
I will never stay at this hotel anymore.
That was my worst experience for a hotel.

PS: Do not stay with their hotel partner in Siem Reap. Receptionists are really rude.

“Stay somewhere else if you can...”

In terms of location, this hotel is quite ok - centrally located. Otherwise, I've nothing positive to say about this place. In terms of security and privacy, this hotel is really the LAST on the list of hotels I've stayed. Apparently, they do not stop the public from venturing beyond the lobby area. Guess it also does not help that they advertise prostitution quite openly.. it's the first item on the list they place on the bedside table. The corridors are poorly lit and somewhat evokes an uneasy feeling among some of us. There were several times we saw people loitering along the corridors. From our experience, the people working at the reception gives out their guests' information very easily -- definitely not something we appreciate. The rooms are ok.. but if you have a better choice, don't stay at Asia Hotel.

“Could be better.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2008

I have stayed at the Asia hotel 2 times now and it's one of those hotels that if they would make a few changes it would be so much better. The room I had was very large and nice for $25 a night but the bathroom looked like it was put together by a 5 year old plummer. The hotel charges an extraordinary amout to use the phone or the internet. It's ok because there a dozens of internet cafes just across the street from the hotel. The hotel charges $4 an hour for internet and local calls are equally expensive. The internet cafes across the street only charge .50 cents an hour to use the internet. Some of the hotel staff are very nice and helpful but some of the others are the laziest people I have ever seen. Another thing I don't like about the hotel is the throng of motorcyle taxi drivers and beggars outside the hotel that mob you as you leave the hotel. One good thing now though is the hotel has it's own KFC restaurant beside the lobby so it's so convenient.
