“A bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed here 8 years ago. The pool area has been nicely revamped as has the restaurant. However the very large rooms need some TLC.

The location is perfect for peace away from the hubbub down town. Short walk to the restaurants by the river.

Breakfast was disappointing. Make sure you get a room in the north wing away from the hotel night club. VERY NOISY.

Room Tip: Make sure you are away from the night club

“This place is a dump, in need of total renovation”

Given the prices and the location you would think this hotel would be a prime choice. Think again. It charges top prices, but its old, smelly in places and the staff are untrained, and although willing unable to do much of anything.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

“Average Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This a a big riverside hotel. I stayed on the club level and was, to say the least, underwhelmed. The facilities were adequate and certainly very clean. However, the hotel was very sterile and old fashioned (1970s not 1870s). Finally, I was not pleased with the add on costs which increased the price of the room from average to high. For instance, the internet fee is very high and the hotel charged me extra, at the end of my stay on bill presentment, because my wife stayed in the room with me (2 of us in the room). The overall feeling of the hotel is one which caters to the large NGO and UN conferences that seem to go on all the time in PP rather than a hotel interested in attracting individual travelers. My wife and I ate at the "French Restaurant" in the hotel and found ourselves being the only customers. We ordered from the menu but none of our first 3 choices were available. The food was ok but certainly not worth the price. Breakfast was adequate but no better than average. On the positive side, the hotel is very clean and the view of the river is very nice. The staff was very nice and unobtrusive.

“Full of potential but falls short due to lack of maintenance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This is part of my 12 day Vietnam and Cambodia tour. The hotel are booked by the travel agent. I have to be honest, this is the lowest ranked among the hotels I stayed on this trip.

The hotel location is acceptable as it is at the edge of the river and has a nice river view. It is within "walking" distance to shops, restaurants, an amusement park and a new casino. However, the night life is further away and you will need to hire a taxi or tuktuk.

the reception area is ok. Clean and roomy.

The rooms are very large and the bed was comfortable and TV has many channels.

This hotel has great potential. Howver, it needs remodeling and better maintenance overall. The carpet in the hall was rippled. It needs to be stretched or replaced. It is a safety hazard. The TV screen is small and old.

There are several improvement opportunities:
(1) Need to provide free wifi internet to be competative with other hotels in town.
(2) Brighter lights by the bed to allow reading.
(3) Decors are showing age, need remodeling
(4) Need to insist on better maintenance and cleaning. The place can look acceptable on photos, but up close in person, you feel it is a run down place. It is not dirty, but not quite as sparkingly clean as I hope it should be.

If I come to town again, I would try another newer hotel, unless this place is renovated.

Room Tip: Ask for river view rooms, very peaceful room with the view.

“killer live band!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

The room seemed a little dated and sterile for the price (we are in Cambodia, people) but over all it was good stay. Good location on the river and it had a nice pool.

The highlite was they had an awesome band playing in the bar, playing covers of popular American songs that were probably better than the original artist. For that reason alone, I recommend this hotel!
