I stayed here for New Year's for 2 nights with several friends. Originally booked for 7 beds, but the hostel understood when a few extra people came. Overall the location is fantastic.
The rooms are cozy and decorated in a very homey feel. The beds are a little stiff, but for Azerbaijan and the money, honestly pretty good. The rooms are not describe correctly online however, the dorm room is actually 8 beds and connected with a curtain is a room with a double bed. You must go through the "private" room to reach the kitchen and bathroom however. Also the door to the hostel is not allowed to be locked, an there are no lockers.
The only thing that was really negative, was the lack of privacy or respect of space. The family walks through the room throughout the day and night with no warning. Often it does not seem that they need anything, just check on what is going on. Even if you are changing or sleeping. They came in one morning while we were all sleeping (New Year's Eve) and turned all the lights on and started moving televisions around and talking loudly. As we were not checking-out that day, we found the disturbance really uncomfortable. They also open the door just to watch what you are doing, while standing in the door smoking.
I would recommend this hostel to travelers who don't mind a family experience, as this is not uncommon in Azerbaijani culture. It is definitely treated as a homestay, and not as a hostel. Also with the exception on 1 member in the family, there is no English so learn a few Azerbaijani or Russian words. I would not recommend it to people who want a private, relaxing place to stay.
