“Very nice and clean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The hotel overall was great! The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious.

However on our last morning there we hopped into an elevator to go for breakfast and the elevator bounced as we hopped in, my husband and I both jumped straight back out and got another elevator down to breakfast. We told someone that we thought the elevator was unsafe and maybe maintenance should have a look at it but when it came time to leave the elevator was still being used.. From a safety point of view this really worried me.

“Beyond my expectations..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

It's been 10 years since I visited Hue and it's great to see that the Imperial Hotel has accomplished what this royal city deserves. The location is magnificent with its full view of the Perfume River and remaining city. From the hotel lobby to the guess rooms, everything was elegantly decorated with all attempts to keep it historically correct for this city. The 16th floor bar is perfect for the afternoon cappuccino and desert with a great view of Hue. The location is safe to walk with a short walk to the river. The restaurant has a great selection for both dinner and breakfast. I had a dinner for 17 people and was very pleased with the food quality, price, and service. Do try their Pho and Bun Bo Hue. It is likely the best I had after visiting Saigon, Ha Noi. If you visiting Hue, this is the best place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.

“Satisfied, but 5*s!? Noooo...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We booked a room at the Imperial because in Vancouver $80 for a five star hotel is unheard of! But according to N American standard, I would give it s four.  The hotel is the tallest in the city, but it is lacking guests to fill it.  The rooms were large, the bathroom was huge (with a a big tub, large separate shower and all of the little extras you can thin of: combs, toothbrushes, a scale, magnifying mirror, etc).  There are a few restaurants within the hotel, but they were empty every time we checked them out (which was a few times over our 3 night stay) and this made the hotel feel spooky and lacking of character.  The hotel staff is friendly enough, but nothing unforgettable.  Te location is good, 10 min walking from the restaurant streets and about 30 min from the Citadel. I wish that there was a brighter bed side light because i had to sit at the desk to read my book. The breakfast buffet offered so many things: omelette station, Pho station, lots of different pastries and breads, cereal, tons of fruit and yogurt, about 6 western breakfast items and 6 Asian breakfast items.  Overall I was happy with the Imperial Hotel.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The hotel is very well decorated, the rooms are big enough and had a beautiful river view. The bed was comfortable. The shower was good but had waves of cold water all the time!! The air conditioning seems to be modern but wasn't working very well.
The breakfast was very good but don't order an espresso coffee: they charged me more than 9 dollars for a double espresso coffe!! The boutique in the lobby is very overpriced as well!
The staff is very smily and helpfull and the hotel is well located in the city center. There is free wifi Internet.

“Colonial glory”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Period charm, wonderful Chinese style decoration, fabulous rooms .....but why was the light level so low? If you like a read before bedtime, it's a bit of a strain on the eyes. Otherwise, though, we couldn't fault the Imperial. There was plenty of variety at breakfast, the bar was well stocked and atmospheric and the staff were very helpful and attentive. Hue is a town of huge character and much easier to get to know than the main cities. We were on a tour, so only stayed a couple of days, but given the choice we would have lingered much longer.

Dear patricia k,

Warmest greetings from Imperial hotel in Hue city, Vietnam!

Thanks for your comments and happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. Also thanks for the consructive comments about our the light in the room. Indeed, we intentionally keep the low light level in all rooms with the hope that our guests would feel relax and enjoyable when they come back after a long day discovering Hue city. After getting your comment, we are considering to set up more light in guest's room.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and hope to see you at Imperial hotel in the near future.
