“Tropical oasis in the middle of the city”

The best thing about the Park Hyatt is the landscaped gardens and pool area. We also stayed for 3 nights at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon on the same trip, which was equally good in many ways - but not the pool area.

The gardens and pool at the Park Hyatt are like this serene haven which allows you escape the hustle and bustle of the thousands of motorbikes just outside the door. All is quiet and restful, leafy and the gorgeous pool is the central focus. We stayed here for 2 nights, even though it was considerably more cost than the other hotels, and we don't regret it one bit. By day 4 and 5 in HCM city we had done most of the sight-seeing and were content to take a breath and plonk by the pool with a book. So relaxing. You couldn't do that at other hotels in HCM city because their pools are squashed into a small area on the top of the building, not the same as being surrounded by gardens!

The Vietnamese restaurant on the 1st floor is called Square One and it just won the award for best Vietnamese restaurant in all of Vietnam - not a bad effort! We were treated to a gastronomic feast with wine included by the executive chef, Asif, who went out of his way to make up for a bad experience we had the previous evening at the Italian restaurant on the ground floor called Opera. Do yourself a favor and book into Square One. AMAZING food!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and you will get a better view of the pool area over the trees

Spent two nights without a single complaint.
First rate service throughout.
Wonderful assistant manager, Patrick.

Room Tip: One that faces the pool, but higher up.

“Perfect...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I just came back from Ho Chi Minh and started to write this review of the Park Hyatt Saigon.. I was trying to think what are the pros and cons... and to be honest I can't think of a single negative thing about this hotel...

The staff are excellent - amazing friendly service and everyone spoke great english. The rooms have a nice colonial feel, but with a completely rennovated bathroom which was great. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and I slept like a baby (something i rarely do)... And then to top it off, the morning's breakfast was a fantastic mix of vietnamese and western... I love the taste and tang of Vietnamese food - it always tastes so fresh... the only slight complaint i had was that the beef in the morning "vietnamese beef baguette" was a little tough... but the flavours overwhelmed the toughness of the meat.

The other plus of this hotel is the location - right in the centre next to the Opera. Perfect for getting around.

To sum it up... I'll definately be back, next time I'm in Saigon..

“Not bad at all.”

We stayed one night here in late Jan 2012. We originally booked the Park Suite King (US$590) but were upgraded to the Park Executive KIng Suite. Check-in was a breeze. The assistant manager showed us straight up to the room whilst the bellboy held open the lift as we were walking across the lobby. Room style was colonial. Free wi-fi. We were too tired to eat that night but the buffet breakfast was quite good (western and eastern available) along with their beef rice noodles (pho).
Limo transfer from the airport wasn't cheap at US$130 one way but for a little bit of luxury and hassle-free arrival, certainly worth it.
We should have stayed 2 nights.

“Poor service and very expensive”

Unfortunately, I can't echo the many excellent reviews. Yes, the hotel is very centrally located next to the Opera house and it is very stylish in French colonial style. That's about it, as regards positive commentaries.
Other than that, it's just hugely overpriced. At the check-in, they firstly didn't recognize my HGP elite status (although I made the booking through the Hyatt system ... very unlikely to be true ...). Then I had to argue for each and every elite status benefit. They even tried to sell normal benefits such bathrobes and newspapers as an elite benefit ... Attention: the "Park Lounge" is not a Club Lounge, so no benefits there. To room itself was quite nice, but noisy - like more than half of their rooms is facing a busy street and the windows have no sound proofing. The antique desk looked nice but was very uncomfortable to work.
Bottom line: Avoid it!

Room Tip: face the pool side - but two thirds of the rooms face the street, so availability is restricted
