The best thing about the Park Hyatt is the landscaped gardens and pool area. We also stayed for 3 nights at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon on the same trip, which was equally good in many ways - but not the pool area.
The gardens and pool at the Park Hyatt are like this serene haven which allows you escape the hustle and bustle of the thousands of motorbikes just outside the door. All is quiet and restful, leafy and the gorgeous pool is the central focus. We stayed here for 2 nights, even though it was considerably more cost than the other hotels, and we don't regret it one bit. By day 4 and 5 in HCM city we had done most of the sight-seeing and were content to take a breath and plonk by the pool with a book. So relaxing. You couldn't do that at other hotels in HCM city because their pools are squashed into a small area on the top of the building, not the same as being surrounded by gardens!
The Vietnamese restaurant on the 1st floor is called Square One and it just won the award for best Vietnamese restaurant in all of Vietnam - not a bad effort! We were treated to a gastronomic feast with wine included by the executive chef, Asif, who went out of his way to make up for a bad experience we had the previous evening at the Italian restaurant on the ground floor called Opera. Do yourself a favor and book into Square One. AMAZING food!
