We booked a room here as our luxury treat at the end of our month long holiday in Vietnam.
We had a lovely large room nicely furnished, big TV, spacious marble bathroom (thiugh the shower only worked intermittently). Tea and coffee making was available. The computer in the lobby was charged for.
Fruit was left in the room each day by the concierge and also a birthday cake and flowers for my birthday although I hadn't mentioned that. Staff were pleasant and helpful (unlike some of your reviewers, we found this was true of nearly everywhere we visited.)
However, it was very expensive to eat or have a drink there eg breakfast was $25pp; small bottle of perrier water in the fridge about $5. We had breakfast in the Paris Deli very close by for about $7 each.
It was really nice to come back to this lovely hotel each evening and relax in comfort.

Historic charm, great location, fantastic breakfast, and amazing views from M Bar and the restaurant. I don't have much to add to previous reviews on these points.

However, what keeps this hotel from being a world class hotel was the response from the front desk when we asked to switch rooms. We had a suite in the old wing but it was musty beyond belief. The room was so gorgeous we tried to make the best of it, but the smell was overpowering and the AC didn't help. When we asked the front desk to switch rooms, the manager played dumb, and asked a staff person to show us three more more rooms in the old wing (which also smelled moldy), before we finally just had to insist specifically on seeing a room in the new wing. After the move, we had a delightful remainder of our stay. The management was fine, and did, in the end, fix the problem, it's just that they clearly pretended they had never heard of this problem before and I find that impossible to believe (because it was so bad they just built a new wing!) The world class hotels with which the Majestic would like to associate wouldn't have wasted an hour of their guests time wandering through the hotel - they would have just fixed the problem off the bat.

Having stayed only one night, during Chinese New Year, we didn't probably experience the full service level and amenities of this hotel. The location is pretty, overlooking the river, yet noisy. And the restaurant prices led us to eat out that night, but the breakfast buffet was extraordinary

Treated ourselves to a decent hotel for a change, really comfortable and a superb breakfast, some of the rooms are a bit noisy from the inevitable street traffic but great shower and plenty of room, nice comfy bed, rare in vietnam!!
