We stayed at the equatorial hotel for a total of 5 nights. Everything was fine, breakfast was pretty good, they had a large selection of foods you could choose from at the buffett.

The location of the hotel is a little far from district 1 where all the fun things are happening. It's in district 5 which is about a 10 minute ride to the city center depending on traffic. We booked online and got a great rate with a promotional code. Ended up being 125 USD a night. Not bad for a 5 star in hcmc. The room wasn't amazing, but still had robes,other amenities and such.

I had a few gripes about the hotel, one being that all the front desk hotel staff including the manager barely spoke a word of English. How are they supposed to function like this? Thus ending up being very frustrating when inquiring about simple things such as the hotel bill. I had to say "bill" 5 times for her to understand me. There was a gentlemen who helped us on the first day that was very helpful but then we never saw him again. From then on it was all women and it was game over. Talking to the wall would have been more productive.

We had a coffee at the overpriced and super slow and bad serviced chitchat coffee bar. $16 USD for 2 coffees and a pastry! Took a few tries and 20 minutes later to get it but we did. And it wasn't even good. They need to step it up a few notches there.

I would return again though as the value was good, but they really need to improve on their service here. For a 5 star hotel they should at least speak basic English.

This is my follow up review for Hotel Equatorial. Our two seperate stays in three weeks at Hotel Equatorial ended with mild approval, but overall I still feel they completely miss the point of service, especially after staying at the Carlton Hotel Singapore. Apples and Lemons (Hotel Eq being the lemons).
I feel they cannot hang on to their five star rating for much longer..............

We stayed here- 2 couples- for a couple of nights at each end of a trip north, and it was all we needed. The location is in a fairly dingy non-touristy area, but the service is impeccable, food and drink prices were reasonable, pool was nice and clean and the sunday buffet was GREAT!
Rooms fairly old but perfectly clean and all facilities, including free WiFi. Not really what I'd call five star, but fine. Would definitely consider that we got our money's worth!

I am happy to stay at this hotel due to its proximity to the office during a business trip. It is also walking distance from a good restaurants and novelty shops in the artsy section of saigon. I also enjoyed a private dip of their outdoor pool which was an easy respite after a busy day. The hotel is also near a river and there was an interesting floating restaurant nearby. Restaurants are generous like the one we went for breakfast.
