This was our 2nd stay at the Bong Sen and like what other reviewers have mentioned, the best thing about this hotel is the location. It's along one of the most upmarket streets in town, and within walking distance to the main tourist sights.
We had pretty good service throughout our stay, and breakfast was good. We stayed in a street-facing room with a balcony on the 4th floor, but the street noise did not bother our sleep.
However this hotel could do with a good spruce-up of its rooms. On both visits I spotted tiny cockroaches on the bathroom sink. The hotel spa was recently renovated and looks great -- perhaps the management ought to do the same for the guest rooms.
HCMC has a lack of good mid-range hotels so we stuck with this hotel for this trip -- If it were any more expensive, we'd go somewhere else next time.

“good, clean affordable spot”
At half the rate of the Sheraton at the other side of the street you get good service, nice and quiet rooms and in summary a very fine hotel for business and private travelling. I can definitely recommend this, for a short stop or for a longer stay in HCMC.

“Great location and good service; a pleasant stay all the way around.”
The Bong Sen has a great location in District 1, close to shopping and all sorts of sightseeing. The service was excellent, very responsive.

“GREAT LOCATION A REFUGE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FRANTIC CITY”
Overnight stop on our way to Hoi An. Great location -lots of shopping near by. Requested a room with a window - pleased we did. Green Leaf very nice for lunch coffee etc. Breakfast a huge range we had freshly made omelettes

the staff remember which room you stayed in and offer it to you when you return. The breakfast is delicious, and the spa is less than 20 dollars for a professional masseuse. great location, near the Old Post Office in city center but on a side street so it is relatively quiet! I want to go back!
