We spent 2 nights here after a train trip around Vietnam and this is just what was needed after the tour which had been very stressful. Unfortunately we can't review the tour on Trip Advisor, however, if anyone wants to know about it I am more than happy to advise on it. The trip is called Franko's rail tours, certainly not recommended.
The hotel was lovely, we had a Club room which was overlooking the lake. The lake was used extensively by the community especially for fishing and wedding photos. My partner used the gym and was very impressed with this and I had a great massage in the spa. All meals we had in the hotel were excellent as were the cocktails and the range of drinks. Although, the hotel is a little bit out of the main city to get taxis was no problem and the hotel advised us which ones to take on the return trips to the hotel. Throughly recommend this hotel if staying in Hanoi.

The place couldn't be more idyllic. The main building stands on land, and then you have others room built over water. Just beautiful! Great staff, with very good (and understandable) English, good food and the place couldn't be more perfect! there's a sunset bar, over the lake. :) It's a little bit away from the city centre, but that makes it perfect. It's quite, and if it's hot you can enjoy the beautiful pool :)

This is a lovely hotel with rooms situated over Westlake. Be sure to request a non smoking room as they don't ask on book in. Also it's worth paying the extra $20 per night to have a room over the water. Rooms are really big, luxurious with fantastic bathrooms and ample cupboard space. It's a $4 (15min) taxi ride to the old quarter but worth it. Concierge very helpful. Go all out and upgrade to intercontinental Club for full breakfast and cocktail hour every night.

I stayed in Westlake Intercon Hotel with my husband for a week before and after New Years 2012--and had the most pleasant experience!! SErvice was excellent and breakfast was fabulous!! Buffet with al foods you can imagine--from Western breads and cheeses and English Breakfast to Vietnamese Soups and Asian Cuisine to Healthy Fruits and Juices Fresh Salads and Chinese Dimsums--etc YUMMY!!! You also get the beautiful view of the LAke at Breakfast Room :) and it has WIFI--so can do FAcebook leisurely as breakfast is until 10:30 am...and they wont kick you out even a few minutes after.
The Diplomat's Lounge is a very comfortable area decorated with nce paintings--and has a great internet connection and comfortable sofas...
The rooms are very large--and you have an individual terrace overlooking the lake--and on the lake itself--the Tower WIng has nice views and the Lake Wing has views of the fishermen on the lake quietly sailing--and or the city view....with wonderful lights at night. It has an incredible peaceful ambience...
The bridges connecting the Lake Wing rooms--along the lake and you get to ride the shuttle from the reception each time you go to your room--is a wonderful sight..and very relaxing.
The BAr in the middle of the Lake alobg the bridges--on Lake SIde is very comfortable...
And service--especially of Concierge is commendable!! the even recommend nice places to dine and for massage :)
We were only supposed to stay few days and ended up staying two weeks!!
We would come back anytinme.
Service is excellent!!!
And price is good :)
