“Vegetarians, quick & budget business trip...affordable.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

It was a sudden & first business trip for me to Hanoi & the hotel was a bit nearer to my Client office. I have stayed 3 nights was charged USD18 per night for a single standard room. The sad part was even though, I have made reservation for airport pick-up (USD16, a bit expensive) but no arrangement was made to pick me up, I have to call to the hotel from the airport to confirm my arrival in the morning, only then the person (he sounds not friendly, not apologetic) got my name & told me that someone will be there in 5 minutes to pick me up, a very poor arrangements. The room had an air conditioner, a desktop computer (I have not used), welcome fruits, and an attached bathroom. Of course, the hotel is with internet facility & my room was at 3rd floor without lift services.
Staff all of them are male, was not that friendly, at least should have employed a female to mend the reception counter. Almost every time I have to speak to the staff they always seems very busy by facing the computer (found out there busy playing computer games). The room was bit ok for the price I am paying with the king size bed & walking around in the room was difficult because suitcase would have taken most of the space. The bathroom was a bit odd as we need to shower standing directly back of the bathroom door and in front of the wash basin.
For those are vegetarians there is a fusion-vegetarian restaurant just across the road & it was really excellent for me where the street full of meat serving restaurants. I would suggest for a short & budget business trip, especially for vegetarians, this hotel would be an ideal around old quarter...Cheers!!!

“Lovely hotel for a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

I checked into the hotel at 8 pm. The staff was friendly and helped me carry my bags to the second floor. The room was spotless. The staff spoke English, which is good when you first arrive Vietnam. My room had a computer in it with internet. The only thing I didn't appreciate was that the buffet breakfast was located in another Sunshine hotel and it was not as delicious as I would have wanted it to be, nonetheless, this is a very good hotel compared with many of the hotels around.

“Best hotel experience yet in Vietnam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

Paid $22 for a single room. AC, TV, fridg, computer, shower and tub. Room was clean and well lit, quiet in the morning. I stayed at another hotel in Hanoi three weeks ago, paid twice as much, and did not enjoy the experience at all. I really could not find any faults with this hotel. Reading the reviews of other guests, the service and quality has either improved dramatically or someone expects too much for what they are paying. The location couldn't be better either; it sets right next to two great budget restaurants, a preserved Hanoi house museum, a few blocks from the lake right in the middle of the old quarter. If I'm back in Hanoi this is where I'll stay.

“Not the best place to stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

Not the best place to stay. The location is perfect. The rooms are not very clean and the staff, well, the don't know yet hospitality is the most important part of the job. Breakfast is poor, dirty and fruitflies everwhere. For this rate you can find much better places!

“Nice & cheap, but choose room carefully”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2009

I stayed one night and was charged USD25 for a single room which according to the reviews, is about mid-range for this type of hotel. The room had an airconditioner, (free to use) deskstop computer, welcome fruits, and an attached bathroom (but no lifts to get there). The staff seemed to be trained to be cheerful and friendly (it didn't seem genuine - and smiles are turned when you engage them). However, my room was so small that there was no place to put my suitcase, except the floor. With the king size bed, even walking in the room was difficult - as your suitcase would have taken most of the space!) The bathroom was worse, and showering meant standing AT the bathroom door and in front of the wash basin and showering these two items as well. I suspect (after speaking with other travellers at breakfast) I could have got a bigger (double) room for the price I paid, and my room would have been slighly cheaper. I am not complaining about the USD3-5 difference, but the cramped room. My recommendation would be to ask to view the actual room you are getting.
