“My Hanoi Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel since 2008, and always come here first when I visit Vietnam, starting in Hanoi. The airport pickup was a nice new added touch. First day breakfast was a little spotty, but things soon returned to normal. I always take a front room, with balcony, the Vietnamese street scene is definitely one of the central aspects to checking out city life. Yes a bit noisy, but the room is huge 1 queen, 1double . Check out their website for pictures. Great staff, and as a returning guest I have gotten to know everbody very well ( usually stay a week or more) . This time I was sick and they took good care of me. The owner is hands on, although you probably wouldn't know she was there as she acts like one of the crew. You can walk to Vietnam airways shuttle buses to the airport in 10 minutes if you want to save a few bucks . As a matter of fact I'll be back to my " Hanoi Home " in a month or so. If this is your first time in Vietnam or your tenth , this is a good spot , reasonably priced, clean and fun.

Room Tip: The front rooms ending 02 I think are the best with balcony and plenty of room. Probably ideal as w...

“Wonderful Hotel, Wonderful Staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Like most flashpackers, we were looking for a central location and reasonable prices. The Lucky Star gave us that and more. Making our first trip to Vietnam so accessible and enjoyable. They even helped plan & guide our families expedition into the west of Vietnam. We could not have had such a memorable experience without out them. Thank you Lucky Star Staff!

“nice Old Quarter hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel several different times, using it as a base for other excursions. I would recommend this hotel to someone who likes to feel part of the bustling 'old quarter' neighborhood. We had a super time there, with the little open air cafe a few doors down to the right as you come out of the hotel (try the lemon tea....) to the great pho place on the corner to the left. We stayed in one of the front rooms, with a balcony (1st floor was a bit noisy (ha), i suggest the 3rd floor). It was nice to open the balcony door and view what was happening on the street. The staff at this hotel is incredible. They helped us in so many ways, free ride from airport if you stay 3 nights or more, making great breakfasts, getting us tickets to attractions (Sapa, Halong Bay, in town events...), Thien even took me on his motor bike to get a bottle of wine. There was nothing we asked about that they didn't go out of there way to accomodate us. The room was comfy and clean and the only reason i didn't give them 5 stars is the sheets and towels seemed a bit tired and it was a bit noisy (not their fault). If we go back to Hanoi we will stay here again. Thanks to the staff for making our first trip to Vietnam a great and memorable one.

Room Tip: No elevator for those that may need one.

“Great rates, location, and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

The Old Quarter was exactly where we wanted to stay, and this hotel fit our budget and desires perfectly. Highly recommended.

The rooms are spacious and a steal at 40 USD a night. Our rooms and bathroom were always spotless. They easily managed our spotty stays -- staying for a few nights, returning for one night here and there before setting off to other locations -- and they were very clear and efficient with our billing. They'll easily call for a cab as needed, and they provide a local map upon arrival. Guests drop off their room keys upon each exit and pick it up upon re-entry. Staff (at least one person, usually more) were always at the front desk to answer questions.

I understand many hotels in the area do this, but they can book tours to Cuc Phuong National Park, Halong Bay, Sapa, and many other northern destinations. We booked our 1-2 day national park stay through Lucky Star, and we were very happy with our tour guide, experience, and cost of the trip (at the time, roughly 130 USD per person).

Free computer use in the lobby, free WiFi, and excellent free breakfast: eggs, sausage, yogurt, pho, and noodles.

Note that there is no elevator, so if you're not fairly able-bodied, the several-story walk-up could be tough.

“A well run hotel with helpful staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I've stayed in several Of HaNoi's boutique hotels, "Lucky Star" is easily the best.
Every staff member from manager to room cleaners are very friendly and helpful, and leave you smiling. Close to the lake and many of the city's sights, reasonable room rates, all basic amenities, Lucky Star Hotel is a home away from home !
