We have been traveling non stop for the last 4 months (hostels, camping, hotels, bungalos, guess houses, you name it), and this was the most disappointing... 18$ for a night, ok. Lights turned on and off from hallway/outside locked door, AC did not work - and even worst started making hissing/loud clicking and brink of exploding noises from 1am-6am, even when we turned it off - it dripped non stop all night all over that side of the room as well. The price was to include AC and wifi. The wifi doesn't reach the room (on the first floor) and the Internet on the computer in the room didn't work. pointless. Food matched the rest of the disappointment but was edible/sufficed as toast and coffee before our exhausting trip we were leaving for at 8am with now no sleep... Most of all, the service was disappointing After bein helpful the day before (because they were making money I suppose) booking our trip for the next day for us, the woman refuse to acknowledge our complaints in the morning, even claiming that we must not know how to work the remote control for it!! She refused to refund us any of the money after our loud, dripping, and lack of cooling AC (with churned and shot our shards of ice all night long) dilemma with no Internet. Her attitude was poor, and really tried to make us feel guilty or embarrassed. It didn't work. We were taken to this place because the other hotel we planned on staying was full and they suggests this one (her friends). Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this one. But the man working the previous day was helpful with sorting our tickets.

This was a great hotel for the price. The staff were very helpful, polite and mostly competent. They did put their heart into their jobs and mostly competent

the Stars Hotel in hanoi was an excellent hotel and a great value. For the hotel itself was fantastic. Our stay at the Stars Hotel was very nice and everything went smoothly.
All in all it was a wonderful trip, wonderful country and wonderful people. Both of us look forward to returning to Vietnam in the future.

Definetly one of the best hotels we had in Vietnam (March 2011)! We had a cute love nest at the fourth floor, tastefully furnished, clean, a small terasse with our own altar :-) and as it was directed to the back, almost quite. All that for 17$ including breakfast.
If you are more demanding, could be that you will be annoyed by all the stairs or the small bathroom, which was about one square meter.
It was perfect for us and if we`ll come back to Hanoi we`ll sure stay there again!
