“reasonable hotel... not top notch but definitely above average for the region”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

In essence I like this Hotel.I have stayed in far far worse in Hanoi for about the same price. Yes its a bit dated.... but the tv works as does the internet. The shower has some water pressure and the room is generally pretty pleasant.

Its not ultra convenient but its not miles away either. The Lakeside Bar on the roof is fantastic although a little pricey.

Overall I enjoyed the hotel. The service was a little 'hit-and-miss' but then again so is most of Hanoi. In all I'd say its a comfortable hotel... not 5 star.. but a pleasant place to stay should you find yourself in Hanoi.

“Refurbishment is long overdue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

Stayed for 3 nights during a recent international conference.

Cost USD 150/night.

Lobby is impressive. Full stop.

Room is clean but jaded.

Faucets are rusty, small rattan chair as a reading chair and a 20 inch CRT colour TV in room. No LCD/plasma.....!!!

Facilities belongs to previous decade.

Buffet was disappointing.

There are better hotels in Hanoi at much less price.

“Upgrade to club level”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2010

The purpose for staying here was the Australian Embassy. When riding from Dal at to Nha Trang a few passports were destroyed due to the rain. This is a good hotel that has hosted allot of dignitaries from around the world. Upgrading into the what I call the club rooms makes sense due to the Happy hour and food made available to you in the lounges. this means you do not have to pay for dinner if you are on a budget. I would stay here again but it wasn't as friendly as the hotels I usually stayed at, but I found this attitude in Hanoi I didn't feel welcome and it was expensive compared to what I had paid in previous hotels. Don't get me wrong it was clean, rooms well appointed and club level staff friendly, but I still felt I was a burden to be tolerated.

“Bad experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

I checked-in in the Daewoo hotel last Sept 29 and checked-out last Oct 15.

It was Oct1 when I mistakenly left my almost $400 in the room. Unfortunately, It was only noticed that there were missing money when I was in the office, Monday afternoon - Oct 4. After arriving that afternoon in the hotel, I immediately reported the incident to the front desk and created an incident report.

All the while, I thought they are investigating the problem, however, none. A day before I check out, one of our managers in our company sent a follow up email regarding this matter. While hoping to have a response, unfortunately still none up to this time.

So upon check out, i again asked for the investigation report. The Front desk manager told me that he only got the follow-up mail yesterday and currently investigating. It has been two weeks already and yet, still under investigations!

They don't really care about their guest! Even to talk to me personally about this matter was not being done!

Really disappointed and bad experience with Daewoo Hotel. Not really recommended!

“Decent Location, Good Rooms, Ok Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

Stayed here for three nights in May 2010. At check in, they changed the rate on us a couple times and couldn't confirm whether or not meals were included in the rate as we discussed at time of booking. Rate ended up being a bit high for the level of service, but there was a good breakfast at the club level, and each night they had drinks and snacks available. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. There were safes and refrigerators in the rooms which were nice to have and the elevators were speedy. There are great views over major intersections and a lake. Cab rides area pretty short to many of the downtown areas and attractions, but a little further than you'd probably walk.
