We are traveling in a small group of friends, and after a number of wonderful Vietnamese hotels (mainly 5 star) were a bit worried that the 3 stars given to our Hanoi accommodation might be a bit disappointing. Well, in Vietnam, stars are allocated on the basis of close amenities - and this is in the ancient quarter.

And, we were upgraded to a suite - simply lovely. Big comfy bed with exquisite linen, free grog in the mini bar, luxury ablutions and right in the heart of town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Perfect.

Our suite had french windows overlooking the town.

Only grizzle? Not enough fruit or real juice at breakfast and we could not control the air con - but that is a minor complaint.

Lovely really.

Looking forward to our return stay after a trip to Ha Long tomorrow.

The location was perfect and quiet despite the main road at the front door. However rooms and corridors were dark as there were no windows !! The mini suite had a bathroom too small for comfort as the water spillage was unavoidable. Yes, there was free mini bar and staff used western names to make it easier for us, and yes, the food was ok but the rooms were spooky and a safety hazard.

Room tip: My colleague slept on another floor and she reported the room was also windowless, dark and bathroom slippery and always had a wet floor.

Pretty much new hotel in a great location in the old quarter in Hanoi.

Rooms are of 4/5 star international standard - boutique feel - they have thought about the small things like good quality bedding, goose down pillows etc.

Free mini bar is a nice touch.

Everything feels fresh and modern

Good breakfast

Only negative is they advertise a gym but this is not ready yet.

The hotel is located very close to the old quarter and walking distance to Turtle Lake. The reception staff are fabulous and friendly. The rooms are tight but does have a desk, mini bar (which is free) and spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. There are no windows in the rooms and rooms are extremely dark. When I arrived and went into the bathroom, the floor towel was not only still wet but was actually dirty. In addition, spare toilet roll is not provided, only what is left on the actually holder which was not much. Also, in my bedroom, I could hear the people in the floor above shower and flushing toilet. A little frustrating in the morning and at night. Very noisy. Breakfast wasnt the best but decent enough.

When our tour bus from Halong Bay pulled up in front to drop us off, my partner and I had a few jealous looks from other tourists who were not staying here! The hotel is very beautiful, exactly what you see in the photos (which isn't always the case). The breakfast buffet was great, we loved the daily free minibar and the location was perfect- within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do. Also, I'll second an earlier comment about not being able to hear any street noise from our room! The only letdown was the gym and spa wasn't open yet. But definitely a great stay!
