Best part of the hotel is definitely their staff - friendly and helpful. I arrived to the hotel several hours before the check in time. Staff jumped to open a door and greet me immediately when they saw me. I was advised that my room will be available in a short while and was offered to have breakfast while I wait for my room to be ready. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Dining room staff was very warm, helpful and willing to tell me more about the town and sights I should visit, their opening hours and many other interesting details. I was offered an umbrella every time I left the hotel (it was raining quite heavily during the time of my visit) and hotel souvenirs upon my check out.
The hotel is close to many sights and restaurants.
Rooms are well appointed (comfortable bed, TV, free wi-fi, complimentary tee and coffee in the room).

The Holiday Diamond Hotel is a good value, budget hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, within walking distance of the lake. As our taxi pulled up at the front of the hotel when we first arrived, the doors opened and four members of staff came out to greet us and help with our luggage. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our room (we arrived late morning), but were immediately offered fresh orange juice to drink and upgraded to the Diamond suite (Room 401). This room was very clean, with a huge, comfortable bed and en-suite shower room. There was a computer within the room, plus a flat screen TV and DVD player. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning, which was included in the price.

The best asset this hotel has is the girls on reception - what a friendly group of young ladies! Each time we came back to the hotel during our stay, they greeted us by name and asked what we had been doing. They were genuinely helpful and friendly, speaking very good English. The girls were able to assist us with booking a cruise at Halong Bay, as well as transport for our onward journey to Hue.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to any budget traveller. Very well done, Holiday Diamond - you win a GOLD STAR from me!

- Service excellent, from reception (in particular Cherry/Cao Ha My) to the bell boys.
- Breakfast is value for money.
- Location is excellent; close to all the local shops, and centered around all the sites (Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son temple a 10 minute stroll, Ho Chi Minh complex a 5 minute drive).
- Overall, well worth the money. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Clean, conveniently located in the Old Town and within 5 minutes of any Old Town attraction. Free wifi and DVD players / computers in every room are a nice bonus. The strength is really the staff, though. They go to incredible lengths to ensure a comfortable, convenient stay. Tremendous service!

Breakfast is just adequate and standard rooms are a bit small and sometimes lack a window, but a) I won't complain about a free meal b) you can upgrade your room for just a few dollars a night, and c) small issues when compared to the others strengths of the hotel.
