Hanoi was the last stop on our VN adventure, and we were surprised and impressed by the exceedingly warm and kind reception and service we received by the staff of this hotel. We arrived just before midnight on the eve of the Lunar New Year; due to our late flight on the biggest holiday for Vietnamese people, the hotel did not have staff available to pick us up at the hotel [for guests staying 3 or more nights, airport pickup is complimentary]; however, they made up for this by dropping us off at the hotel when we departed Hanoi. We arrived to literally giddy hotel staff who welcomed us to Hanoi and got us checked in very efficiently so that we could try to make it down to Hoan Kiem lake to see the fireworks. When the fireworks went off as we were getting settled into our room, the hotel staff took us to the roof, where they reveled in the multiple firework displays happening simultaneously in multiple areas of Hanoi. For having to work on the biggest party night, the staff were extremely good-natured. We had to change our stay from 4 days to 2 days due to the schedule of our Halong Bay cruise [separate review coming for Halong Day Tours company and the boat 'Paloma'], and the hotel was very understanding/flexible. At first I was concerned that every day I was talking to a different person at the front desk, but everything worked like clockwork, and it appears there is excellent communication among the staff. Every arrangement/issue we had was handled correctly/as discussed, no matter whom we spoke to. But what really put us over the top was how we were treated when we returned from Halong Bay. Upon being dropped off at the hotel [to retrieve our big suitcases and await our transfer to the airport], hotel staff was waiting on the curb, welcomed us back by name, asked if we had a good time, and then proceeded to advise us that we had free use of a room in order to shower, repack, eat, etc as it was still a few hours til we had to leave for the airport. We were blown away as they had no obligation to give us the room for 3 hours, nor had we asked for a 'hospitality suite' type of arrangement. So in sum, the service is truly first-rate, everyone at the front desk spoke very good English, and despite having a lot of different folks staffing the front desk, none of the particulars surrounding our stay was overlooked. Stellar service aside, the rooms and bathrooms were modern, spacious [get the room with two single beds as it has much more space than the double bed room], and very clean. A desktop computer is provided in your room, as is free wireless. Good heating and a/c. For those looking to make use of the in-room safe: you'll be surprised to find that the safe is not actually bolted to the wall or closet, but is literally a box that can be moved around. Quite odd, yes, but we figured our valuables were safer there than on us, and we had no problems. Thank you again to the staff at Hanoi Charming 2 for a fantastic stay and a great property!
Room Tip: get rooms with single beds as they are more spacious and give you room for large suitcases
