We stayed in Art Hotel Hanoi for 2 nights during our 11-day trip in Vietnam. Although Hanoi is not our favorite place in Vietnam, this hotel certainly made our stay more pleasant. I love to stay here again next time.
Location:
Hotel is located in the Old Quarter where you can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in about 10 mins. There are plenty of street food stalls and restaurants nearby. We very much enjoyed the food from the restaurant which is just next to the hotel.
Staff:
They are always friendly with a big smile, make you feel you are always welcomed. Check-in & check-out is fast. The staffs are really efficient and give you no worry.
Room:
We stayed in the "quiet" room which is actually at the back of the building. I suggest not to choose the room "with city view" as the streets of Hanoi area always busy and noisy.
Room is small but given the fact that most buildings in the Old Quarter are indeed small. The room is clean and gives you everything you need, mini-bar, big TV, free Wifi, comfortable bed. We are satisfied with what's provided in the room.
Breakfast is great too. It's simple, fruit, bread and eggs. And it's very delicious.
One minor thing that would make the experience less perfect:
We booked a hotel pick-up from the airport prior our arrival. But there was no one waited for us when we arrived. I have to called the hotel and make sure that they did indeed had our booking and had sent the driver. The driver finally showed up, and with another English-speaking woman. It's kind of weird but the woman knew my name and said the hotel sent her. So we got in a car and finally arrived to the door of the hotel.
Our flight didn't arrive early and I expect the driver should be waiting for us upon our arrival.
The hassle made us wait in the airport arrival hall for almost 30 mins.
I guess it can happen anywhere for any hotel. Overall, this is a great place to stay in Hanoi.
We planned on staying only two days, but circumstances changed, However the front of house staff were so efficient, obliging and helpful with all our needs, including redirecting my choice of Halong Bay boats to one more suitable for our honeymoon for the same price, was something we will always be grateful for. It is hard to pick out a favourite as the four different women that work the front of house as well as the breakfast restaurant were all extraordinarily helpful, which more than made up for the small standard room.
My partner and I used this as our base whilst we visited Vietnam. When we went on one/two night stay overs in Halong Bay etc. they looked after our extra baggage. It was always a relief to come back to the hotel, because they really do look after you.
They welcomed us at 8am with fruit cocktails at first checked in when we flew in from Europe. We had the room from 8:20am! The rooms were always clean, and surprisingly quiet. The number one thing I have to say is the amazing staff. They were very attentive. ALWAYS trust what they have to say about taxis. The one time we went with a non-Art Hotel booked taxi was the one time we got ripped off. (And they did warn us!)
When we were picked up to go to Halong Bay, we booked via the internet before arriving in Vietnam. The desk staff were very careful to make sure we had the right van, and made sure the driver had proof he was working for the appropriate company etc. etc. Their restaurant reccommendation for down the road (and around the corner a bit) was excellent too.
Breakfasts are free and pretty good, sweet Vietnamese coffee and a lot of egg based breakfasts. (I was sick of egg by the end!) They do amazing fruit drinks!
Great location, the most amazing staff. Ever.
If you are looking for a centrally-located hotel in Hanoi, look no further. The Art Hotel is a small, city hotel. The front desk staff are exceptional. They are really keen to look after you. Once outside the hotel, you are right in the middle of the traffic and chaos that is Hanoi. The hotel offers a delicious breakfast which you order from a menu but is included in the room rate. Other meals were taken in one of the many nearby restaurants. They offer a very reasonably-priced laundry service which is charged by the kilo rather than by item. There is a travel agency desk right in the lobby which is handy when you booking excursions. The Art Hotel is a highly recommendable and reasonably priced option ($45 per night, per room).
