I stayed here a few times in February, using Hanoi as my base to get to Sapa and Halong Bay. The staff (particularly Martin) were on-hand and welcoming from the minute I turned up without a reservation at 5am, and helped me organise my tours and trips - even once escorting me to the train station. They also let me leave my large backpack there while I did short trips. I had intended to move to a more backpacker-ish place after my first night, but they made everything so pleasant and easy that I ended up staying and coming back. As with all the hotels I stayed in in Vietnam, it doesn't pay to be too picky about the finish of the room, but it looked beautiful, there was just enough hot water, computer, AC and a nice big TV. There's hardly any street noise and the location is perfect walking distance to everything within the old quarter.
