I frequently travel to Hanoi and the Golden Lotus 2 Hotel is my preferred place to stay. Firstly, it it in the centre of the old part of Hanoi and accessible to good shopping, food and offers an excellent street scape. I love my early morning walks around Hoan Kiem lake (close by) and the experience of the small food market the arises every morning and is gone by morning tea time. The hotel is charming and the rooms are appointed in traditional Vietnamese style with beautiful wood work, delightful bric a brac, and with a very. comfortable bed. The room is always wonderfully cool and clean, if you do not want the hum of street noise make sure you book for a back room. The breakfasts are catered to my personal taste and there is a bonus of some lovely pastries. The rooftop bar offers a range of food and the most delicious cocktails (good for unwinding after a long day!!!) But what is my chief reason for returing is the overwhelming friendliness of the staff at all levels. The welcome, personal care and attention of the staff who all speak very good English offers a service that is 5 star. As a single traveller that is important to me. I know if there is a problem someone in the hotel will be able to help me solve it, or should I wish to take a day trip, have a Vietnamese experience or to travel futher there is someone to advise and book. I recommend this hotel for travellers who would like a respite from the gruelling, every day rigours of travel and enjoy a moment of tranquility.

My family 7 people stayed in Golden Lotus 2 hotel in November 2011. The rooms are very good. I am happy that I felt the room as cozy as the one at home. I love their wooden decoration in the hotel. The room for my parents are so lovely quiet and the room for my brother are so romantic with street view. From hotel we could walk around the old quarter and shopping around. Thanks Mr. Bui Phuong for your kindly helps with arranging rooms for my family and many Thanks for enthusiasm!!

First night we spent in a front room with a balcony - mistake number 1. Too noisy for a good restful night. The staff were responsive and we moved to a quieter and larger room for the next three nights. Good clean rooms and a helpful staff.
Few issues to confront. On the 4th and 5th floors where we stayed the cooking smells from the basement worked there way up the staircase early in the morning and this was not pleasant. The breakfasts themselves were passable by the staff again were very good.
The hotel is situated in a busy tourist area of the old city and close to many attractions.

This hotel was a delight from the helpful friendly staff at the desk with perfect English to the comfortable rooms with beds to die for! The hotel is in a great location- near the lake in the Old Quarter and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We broke our stay here - firstly with two nights in a lovely room at the front of the hotel with its own small balcony facing the street and then with a night later in a room at the back of the hotel .This front room was great for people- watching as the city gets going in the early hours of the morning. Be prepared for some noise if taking a room facing the street - we had music over a loudspeaker at 7am and a rooster crowing! Our kids who had a back room were unaware of any street noise. As mentioned in a previous review, the rooms at the back of the hotel are dark but quieter, albeit the strange bathroom design! The breakfast was lovely and the wait staff very friendly. Would recommend the Golden Lotus 1 for visitors to Hanoi without hesitation!
