“Clean nice hotel but you pay for internet”

The hotel overall was good! Staff were friendly, breakfast was great, room was clean. You must pay for internet which is lously I think...

We booked a half day private tour though the hotel which was great, we payed about $60 USD for the tour and saw a fair bit. We looked at booking a Halong Bay cruise through the hotel but they were asking for WAY too much so we went back to our room and booked a cruise online.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent stay with us at The Moevenpick Hotel, Hanoi .

We make every effort to ensure your expectations are exceeded and I sincerely appreciate that you have taken the time to share your personal experience and recognize our endeavors. Thank you for acknowledging the positive elements of your stay, especially the friendliness of our colleagues, the cleanliness of the hotel and the quality of our breakfast.

I am also grateful to receive your comments regarding the price for internet access. Please know that this service is priced competitively with the other local internationally operated hotels and as such our service employs the highest levels of security to ensure your on-line safety. Similarly with regard to the cruise offered at Ha Long Bay, there are many operators you can choose from, however the hotel will only recommend those that operate to the highest levels of quality, service and safety and these unfortunately are not always the cheapest. I hope you understand our position in this matter.

Thank you once again for your feedback on Trip Advisor. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back in the very near future.

Sincerely,

Philip Jones

“Nice hotel but have to pay for Internet access”

This hotel was chosen for us by our tour operator. Overall this is a clean modern hotel. One thing that really irks me in this day and age are hotels that charge for Internet access. This hotel charges a minimum of $2 per hour for access. This in itself wouldn't be bad but you can't pause usage; once you pay access ends one hour later. If I had a choice I would pick a like hotel that offers free access.

“Good for a city hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed here for one night as part of a package which included a one night stay here followed by a one night stay on the Emeraude Cruise. Location-wise it is quite nice as the road isn't as busy as most of the other roads in Hanoi but it's still close enough to most of the attractions like the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake. It's walkable to get there especially since the weather is quite cool at this time of the year.

The rooms itself were very nice. Not as big (as we were coming from Hyatt Regency in Danang where the rooms were massive) but very nicely decorated...birdcage and all. I can imagine it could be noisy for those who are light sleepers as you can hear the honking through the walls so it might be an issue (but we were there over the weekend so perhaps the traffic was less plus I'm not affected by noise when sleeping anyway).

We had dinner at the restaurant and it was okay. The western food is better than its vietnamese. I tried the Pho there and it had no distinct taste at all and tasted pretty bland actually. The burger was pretty good though, although the sides looked a tad sad. The breakfast was not bad. Had a good selection but again we were spoiled before at Hyatt so the food didn't seem that great.

Overall it's a reasonable hotel but I suppose I had a higher expectation for it.

“Great Location!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I've read the reviews here but feel that they don't really give this hotel enough justice. I got a room last minute at $105 USD / night which is a pretty good deal and had a lovely time. Good little gym.. and the food was ok. The room was not a bad size for its money, and when I had to get a taxi the staff helped me out no problems and voila - the taxi was there.

Probably the high point though has to be the proximity to this VIETNAMESE restaurant across the road. If you walk across the road and then 50 metres down the street on the opposite side of the road, 50m down (opposite UN Development) is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi. It serves all the specialities in a 'market environment' and its absolutely packed all the time. The restaurant is no. 1 in Hanoi. So being able to live across the road is pretty handy. We ended up having breakfast and lunch at this restaurant on multiple occasions.

“Reasonable Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of a trip around South East Asia. It is a reasonable hotel, in quite a good location. We found that we needed to sleep with earplugs due to the noise of the traffic, the constant toot toot made it impossible to sleep. The staff at reception were pleasant but everyone gave us different information about the opening times of attractions and the time we should go to avoid queues – quite annoying. If I were to return I would try another hotel to compare.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the traffic
