We stayed two nights at this 5 star hotel. We had booked a superior room with mountain view but changed it immediately to sea view. We got a room on the 12th floor and the view is great over the whole of Halong Bay. The large room was mostly clean and fresh and had a TV. (we had a dirty bath curtain which we requested to be changed) No coputers or free internet here. Breakfast buffet seemed to be impressive but we did harly find anything suitable to eat. Coffe we were first served was weak American style but got much better when we ordered Vietnamese coffe. We booked this hotel mostly because of the nice pictures on the pool area. The pool is there with the poolside house, the three pool guys were helpful and arranged drinks for us. But the internet pictures were more impressive than the real thing. The personal of the hotel were helpful and could speak English. We felt like many others that the hotel's glory days are over and something must be done for it to keep the five stars. We felt that our Hanoi hotel with it's 3 stars was better than this one. If you want a beautiful view from the room this can be your choice at Halong Bay.

my friend and i chose this hotel from a short list of places (provided by the tour operator) as we decided at the last minute to stay overnight as opposed to returning to Hanoi after a Halong Bay tour. the place looked impressive enough at first.. but then it became apparent that it's glory days are behind it. the halls and room interiors are pretty dated.. the halls were not air conditioned and they pipe in terrible music in the halls as well... and the STAFF and SERVICE were indifferent at best. no one helped with the bags up to the room, the doorman was eating and appeared bothered to get the front hotel door. we asked for advice on places to go, where to eat and we got blank stares. the breakfast buffet left alot to be desired as well..unripe fruit, some of the hot food was cold and only thing orange about the juice was it's color. ps. the view from the room was nice.

This was the best hotel we stayed in after 3 weeks in Vietnam, but it does have one bad point. Food and beverages at this hotel are priced out of sight and the food quality is very poor,

The service here sucks! Breakfast ends at 9am but they start cleaning up at 830am. How many of us here actually wake up that early? Especially on vacation? The food is horrible. They never refill the juices jar and replace empty dishes. The staffs are plain rude. They turn off the light and air condition even though there are 40 people in the room, trying to eat their sucky food. One of the dishes is spoiled and no one ever apologizes for that.

Room: Fans werent not working. Broken curtain never gets fixed even when I called on them.

Swimming pool: OH right! Imagine you are swimming in a swam. Yeah, that's what it feels like. The water is green and they never turn on the auto-filter.

And yeah. Try hard to find a single smile here. If you want to see angry faces, welcome! If you wanna spend a fun and memorable trip, PLEASE go elsewhere!
